From what I can tell Imperial Director Orson Krennic (Ben Mendelsohn) is going kick ass in Rogue One. will probably be up there with the likes of Vader,Palpatine,Kylo Ren as my favourite Star Wars villain.

Isn't the timeline for having Thrawn is abit off to my recollection?
I mean it's a minor thing to be finally be cannon, just trying to work out if he can ever be shown in a star war film one day?

It doesn't really matter, for all we know in the new canon the Chiss have very long lifespans now so there's still a chance.
There will probably be a spin-off movie about him due to the character's popularity.

Wonder how many Star Wars fans who didn't watch Rebels will now watch it because of Thrawn.
Not sure. You'd think if you're hardcore enough of a fan to know who Thrawn is, you're probably already watching Rebels.

Plenty.
A lot of fans have never watched the show, assume it's a little too childish and cheesy just because it's on a Disney channel. It is okay, and it gets progressively better as it goes on. The show handled Tarkin and Vader very well.
