Ross might be creating something here.

Still need life beyond Sinclair. I like Sharman and Owen's.

Sinclair has only just turned 30, there is still a few good years left in him, along with NWM. hard to tag both of them.

We also have Liam Henry to add to the mix when he returns so there's a lot of pace and skill that will be hard to stop.

Kicking back into the corridor with zero care is ok against the Richmond’s of the world

You get punished when the games are on the line and relevant
Young player whos game is rapidly evolving has turned the ball over a few times in one game. Let's focus in on that.

If he was at the hawks you'd be glazing so ****ing hard. At the saints. Quick let's look for something wrong... ummmm ahhhh shit errrrr wait wait he turned it over just then!

Was a comment on a specific kick

Great player
Shit kick

Problem is that in a couple of years they’ll be competing with MCG tenants who get marquee games like Essendon and Richmond and possibly even Collingwood for those targets.

It’s not really a fair fight.

Exactly and when our President points this out he is a whinger.

They are exactly where everyone expected at round three.

Spanked the likely wooden spooners at home. Got spanked away by a club expected to fight it out with them for a spot in the eight and won a tight game at home against a likely contender.

Finals is the pass mark this year but right now they sit in that 6-12 bracket.

No one expected us to beat Geelong though.

Largely agree but not sure ‘everyone expected' them to be where they are. Almost every media ‘expert’ had us bottom 4, with some bottom 2. None had us playing finals. Any reasonable minded St. Kilda supporter would not honestly have had us pegged for top 4. But based on the back half of 2024 it was entirely reasonable to have us competing for a places 7-10. Despite a horrific injury list and a horrible early season draw if we can get break even after 8 rounds then I think we can play finals. I know Richmond are in a full re-build and good on them. After 150 years of mediocrity, I would trade 10 years of last place finishes for one flag, let alone 3. But little has been made of the fact that St.Kilda was younger than Richmond yesterday and had a huge number of first choice selections missing for various reasons. 14 players with less than 70 games took the field yesterday with a good number in single figures. (Travaglia 0, Keeler 1, Hall 2, O’Connell 2, Keeler 2, Collard 4, Hastie 6). Garcia, who looks a likely type was in game 12 and several 2nd, 3rd and 4th year players are developing into legitimate top liners. Not going to threaten the Hoks, GWS and B’bane this year but well placed to make a serious run at it in a few years. They are not anywhere close to being no man’s land.

Finals is the pass mark?

I was told by every pundit and every ladder ranking that we're going to be bottom 4 and that's that?

How have we shifted the pass mark to finals after 3 games?

Betting markets would have had us 1-2 right now and not many would have tipped us to win by 14 goals yeaterday.

It’s early in the season but we’ve blooded a bit of youth and they’ve shown a bit all while managing to win games and play a pretty good brand of footy.

Not sure what more people really want tbh.

Not sure where you see I’ve shifted Murray. I can’t speak for others. I’ve had you 6-12 all along.

I see your competitive set being Adelaide, Essendon, Collingwood, Port, Gold Coast , Carlton, Western Bulldogs and Fremantle.
Playing for 4 spots in the 8.

GWS, Bris, Geelong and Sydney ahead of the rest of the pack.

Time will tell where you end up, but at this stage it looks like Gold Coast is set to rise and Carlton to fall.

You're taking this too seriously.

One question to Saints fans.
Thoughts on starting a season with 7 first 22 players missing and another 3 off no pre season.
Must be a concern.
It's not ideal, but we have developed a mentality whereby another player steps in and plays the role they have been training for. One could argue that all clubs do that, but Ross Lyon trained players know they can step up and fill the role.

...and one positive is that we get AFL games into our younger players, setting them up for an even brighter future.

Hawks missing?
Ok 🤣

If he leaves it doesn’t matter who you get. It will be a step backwards. And depending on how the negotiations are handled, be a negative to the existing playing group,
Theres always risks associated with drafting interstate kids hopefully he stays but if he leaves we will end up getting more draft capital than we originally paid for him , than it’s a matter of nailing those picks , you wouldn’t look back now and say north lost with Horne Francis leaving they went out and drafted good players to replace him not the end of the world

This post confirms the theme of this thread, that St Kilda are too honest - winning enough matches to keep us from gaining a premium draft pick, but not enough wins to challenge as a premiership threat (yet).

But it also shows how pathetic Carlton has been in the modern era - a really sad performance
