Ship it!!

Final table went for I reckon 5 hours. That was one of the hardest things I reckon I've ever done, but goddam the result was worth it! Me and Maso did a deal to split the winnings and we both came away with a bit over 10k each

Good to see you both GreyCrow dirty2 , thanks for your support today!

Hah well done

Maso is part of our Rat group

He is a strong player and can be moody at times - not angry just down on the game. Gets bored easy and I feel like he throws chips away if he is in that mood.

Which is why I called his all-in with K5c in the BB to SB shove - 1 I had invested 1/3 of my stack - 2 I hoped he was in any 2 card mood

He had AKs and a 5 on the flop was looking good till the A on the turn

He is happy with the deal and has had a massive 11 months - who got the Trophy and TOC spot?

now that the dust has settled, and the shock of being the main event champ has passed a bit, heres a bit of a report on the sunday

sat down with 41k (8BB). first hand i play was on my BB where i got to check a Q2 to a flop, flop came 99Q with 5 runner SB checked, jammed straight away expecting a 9 to be out there somewhere, all fold, and i'm back to the start stack. maybe 2 orbits later wake on the button with KK, at that stage I think i had the start stack or close to it, jammed and got a caller, flips KJ off. runout doesn't help and i'm sitting on around 105k - enough to play with. not long after get moved to table 1

don't remember any terribly memorable hands on that table, but i did manage to quietly accumulate chips. at one stage we had a bigfooty convention going on with both dirty2 and GreyCrow sitting on that table too. left the table from memory with about 500k, just picked some good spots to make it hard to call if you didn't have the best hand

the next table is where i really made some moves. doubled up pretty quick with AA on a AXX board, had someone shove into me with AQ, pretty simple call there. quick count and I have just under a million with the money bubble close, which comes and goes and we're in the money. table gets broken up again and i'm moved next to skinner (who we all know can play the game) first hand i look at as A5 diamonds, flop 985 2 diamond board, bet around 3BB (think that was 150k at that point, could be wrong), skinner bets upto 350k, I jam and he folds, shows 52, was ahead anyway.

get upto 1.6m, look down at j9 suited, call a small raise with that, flop comes 810A, get jammed on, have him on low pockets, work out that i've got about 14 outs or something like that, and even more if the turn gives me that backdoor flush draw so i call - was right, pocket 6's - couldn't improve and lose about 2/3 of my stack. get down to 180k, and get back up to 800k through some shrewd jamming lol. eventually wake up with pocket J in mid position, jam (about 12BB at the time) and get 2 callers, flop J73 rainbow, isolation play and i'm heads up against AJ, turn and river brick and i've picked up a pretty damn good stack of around 2.3m

we're moved onto the final 2 tables, manage to avoid any real damage while everyone around me gets out. managed to knock out millsy with 99 (can't remember what he had), and the final table is on

first 3 on the FT go pretty quick, we play 6 handed for about 2 hours, chips just moving around. i honestly don't remember much from the FT, but i do remember getting pretty low in chips and waking up with 88, I jam and get called off by KQ. flop comes KQx and i'm almost screwed, bink the 8 on the river and we're back baby!! got me upto about 3m. couple orbits later and wake up with AA in the BB, UTG jams for 2.5m and its a simple call for me, shows AJ and the board runs dry for him. i'm somehow over 5.5m and got about a third of the chips in play. i start accumulating chips pretty regularly and it gets down to 3 handed. Maso knocked him out after about 45mins of 3 handed play and we're heads up. we are both exhausted by this point, and he asks if i want to deal. given we've both had a fair piece of the chip lead over the course of the FT, i just offer a 50-50 split, seemed fair IMO given he'd played damn solid the entire FT. so the split of 10.3K was achieved, and we play for the trophy. at this point i'm raising nearly every hand he has, and he's folding. i'm over 12m and he has the remaining 6ish. blinds are 250k/500k at this point. final hand and i see pocket 7's, he jams on me and I call, flips A6 i think. runout doesn't pair the A, and i'm the main event champ!

just checked the timestamp on my messages to my partner, FT started at around 6pm local, finished just after 11pm

so there it is, a pretty crude report from day 2 of the main, such an incredible day that I really feel like I had no right to be at given how i'd started the day!

Coming back for TOC end of the month :D
would love to - but i've got a few too many things on before the years out, that time of year..
