Fingers crossed. Don't think bodes well for one of Ramsay or Sinclair. Who would you pick.
As far as Sincs is concerned I reckon his soft tissue issues has the club on a tether, do you reckon we'll give him another year and see how he pulls up under a different training regime (if the new HP can recognize what's req'd for him)

At pick 6 for me we just need the best and i have some reservations around Brander. I also think there are some really good tall types deeper and think we could land one or two of them. Wooller, Petty, Claaravino, Taylor, McLean etc.

No dont think they move Pendlebury. He is a Capt and if you move on him when he doesn't want to go would have a huge cultural issue.
There’s is no way Pendles will be moved on. Bucks for one wouldn’t allow it. He has been a great supporter of his and he is the captain. You start trading out the captain and it affects the overall fabric of the team.

Certainly Coffield is one they've tracked and think they have Balta as well but he's a stretch for me at 6. He could be boom or bust.

I think your point around context is good though. If the industry goes towards playing more smaller to medium sized forwards then that has an implication for what you recruit and probably more importantly how many key defenders do you actually need.

Richmond are interesting they played Rance as a key tall down back but Astbury and Grimes still have size but maybe Moreno importantly mobility.

I just wonder if that isn't in recruiters minds ie Is game is coming to kids like Stephenson, Fogarty and Coffield?

I'd be inclined to take one of those theee and hope Petty is their later.

The ideal scenario for me would be Coffield at 6 because he can come in and impact from day dot off a back flank. If we were to then hit up Petty and Wooler with our next two picks and Brown to finish I would consider that a success.

I'm tipping we'll bring Murray in and perhaps a Collins or Hansen as cover on the rookie list. Given the list changes we've made I think it's crucial that we hit up at least two talls so we're in for an interesting four days trying to position ourselves in the draft. I do think the games changing to favour one gun tall at each end with role players in support.

My feel is that the game is shifting more toward stopping other teams one wood rather than having one of your own. IDK if I like that for the game in general, but it leaves us in a good position because we don't have a one wood, IMO.

I think Hansen has retired

Hey Snoop. Sorry if this has already been asked, I have only gone back a few pages. But who do you think we should take at 6 and why?

Also would you look at strengthening our draft position this year by using 2018 picks, or just do the minimum and wait for next year’s draft?

In relation to 2018, Scott Lucas on SEN ran through some of the talent for that draft.
Gee, some of them sound very tasty indeed

I don't see why we need short term cover for tall defenders. Dunn, Reid and Goldsack are all AFL standard, McLarty is probably ready to get a few games. We'll draft at least one more. If we get hit really hard with injuries, blood the youth.

I should probably have added that Collins is my preferred option and he's medium term cover. Beyond that 2017 could have been Dunn's last hurrah, Reid is one soft tissue injury from the end and Goldsack isn't a KPD. Whilst we look good for numbers and I'd like McLarty to be exposed I just think we're one short in the medium term.

I agree that Collins could be an option in terms of the medium term. I reckon that we are more than 1 short in the medium term. Hopefully that gets fixed through drafting - this year sounds like a pretty good year in terms of kpd depth in the draft.

The curveball on that front would be Moore to defense. If you were confident in landing Lynch that move adds value to me because it gives us an elite tall at either end long term.

Collins is the one but I would expect a few to come at him. He's a victim of Freo depth there. He will get a senior spot I would think with a club.

Talia is one I'd check out. Played when I saw him in NEAFL.

Also curious to see what happens with Close.

Wooller is a modern type of forward.

We have been Linked with Close but nothing seems to be Happening this Trade/FA Period

What youth?

Apart from the possibility of swinging Moore back, our key position stocks are in dire shortage. We got away with it with Dunn and Goldsack last year but they are both 30+ and one of them isnt really a key defender.

McLarty and whoever we draft this year.

Exactly. Not enough if we get hit hard with injuries (your words).

Moore the other possibility if playing him back is on their radar

Given we have lost White Keeffe and Schade as well as first year McCarthy, its not unreasonable to target at least one slightly more senior player (age 23 or so) for depth and hopefully upside.

Whilst that's all true, all the spares we had were those tyres that last like 80km before you, must pop on a new tyre.

We can only have 44 on the list. There is no way of having complete ready to go cover for all injury possibilities. I'm expecting us to draft at least one, probably two tall defenders because it's an extremely obvious long term problem with our current list. That'll be 5 or 6 kpds on the list.
I'd happily recruit Collins - if we only wanted to draft one youngster, but I'd be doing so with the hope that he can be best 22 in time. I wouldn't be drafting him to be short term cover, because I think we have adequate.

Doesn’t mean we shouldn’t have depth options . We can’t expect Dunn and Goldsack to back up next year and have similar high quality seasons. And Reid is Reid. And who knows how cox will develop.

Not sure McClarty and a draft pick is enough to cover all four of those players!
