Seeing this is WWEs 10th wrestling game they have decided to make it extra good. Smackdown vs Raw 2008 was a flop in my opinion but hopefully 2009 will be the wrestling genre to new heights.

I know that this should go in the games section but I wanted opinions of those who actually watch the wrestling.

The graphics are AMAZING on the Ps3 and i'll put up some videos so you can see what I mean.

It seems as though this is mainly going to be a tag team game. Will this live up to the standards of actual wrestling?

great graphics. The tag story lines would be good, however, only so far you could go. I have a feeling it will be a "team" story line, where you have a partner, but compete as an individual through the different titles.

Heres some recent news

New Details on WWE's SmackDown vs. RAW
Date Added: September 14, 2008
Story By: Marc Middleton
- New images of WWE's SmackDown vs. RAW 2009 reveal that Festus, Candice Michelle, Jimmy Wang Yang, Cody Rhodes, Mickie James, MVP and Chuck Palumbo will be part of the roster. It's also confirmed that 8 Superstars will have alternate attires, with two of those being Chris Jericho and CM Punk.

- The PS3 special edition of the game will come in a steel tin and include a Blu-ray disc that features matches and making of videos.

- THQ's Cory Ledesma did a Q&A recently with IGN where more details on the game were revealed...

* The PS2 version will not support online play. Also, the PS2 version will include almost every single feature the PS3 and 360 version has but not all.
* The Wii version of the game will have interactive victory scenes where you can control your Superstar after winning.
* The alternate attires, an unlockable arena and other items are available in the Road to WrestleMania mode.
* This year's game does not feature a GM mode. The new mode features some of the features that has been in GM mode for the past three years.
* The Create-A-Stable feature is still in the game but is not listed under the Create Menu and is referred to as "Team Management."

Also it will have downloadable content, in order to ensure the rosters are up to date. The content will also apparently "allow them to introduce special events in game based on what's happening on the show".

a new season mode entitled Road to WrestleMania XXIV will replace the previous version's season mode, 24/7 Mode. In this new mode, players can choose from five superstars to play as in single-player storylines: Triple H, CM Punk, The Undertaker, John Cena, or Chris Jericho.[18] The storylines featured in the mode are tailor made to fit the chosen wrestler's character.[6] As part of the game's new emphasis on tag teams, a co-operative storyline will also be included in the mode, in which the players will take the parts of Batista and Rey Mysterio respectively.[9][18] Players can either play this storyline with a partner locally or online.[19] It has been confirmed that for the first time the Wii version will also include the Road to WrestleMania mode, replacing their equivalent Main Event mode in the previous edition.[6] The other new mode featured in the game will be the Career mode, replacing the General Manager (GM) mode from the previous game. Unlike the Road to WrestleMania mode, all characters featured in the game are eligible to play including wrestlers created by the player in Create-A-Superstar mode. The main aim of this mode is for the player to fight their way up the rankings for a particular title of their choice, in match types that they can also choose. After each match, the player's character is awarded attribute points based on the style of wrestling the player used.

If this is true than it's a real let down for me. Ever since HCTP season mode has never been the same again. I thinking whether to buy it or not or get TNA Impact instead but tempted not to due to the creat-a-finisher mode the new game has.

Here's the cover for the new game

As an increasing rusted on TNA I have to say I read a run down of the career mode for SvR 2009 and am now tempted to pickup a copy in November (just guessing.) Sounds pretty cool with being able to fight for any title including the women's for the first time ever. I may have to make an Angelina Love CAW and destroy the competition.

More and more, SvR just seems to make arbitrary changes to the game (for instance, when they added the right analogue stick grappling control, which wasn't much better or worse that the O button control, it was just... needlessly different), without addressing the issues that everyone's been sick of for years (PS1-style clipping and collision detection, CAWs looking nowhere near as good as the 'proper' wrestler models, commentary, etc).

Every year they try and do something new with the season mode, and it's always just a different kind of average to the year before...

Clearly no rocket scinentists on this board.

The career mode they talk about is the season mode you can play with any character in, im pretty sure it's text based too which means it s**** all over what they have served up lately.
