News Silly Season News Thread - No Rumours (aka Hackdorn Free Zone) or Discussion

Remove this Banner Ad

It's that time of the year when people lose their collective minds over who is being traded, delisted or drafted and the various media outlets come up with all kinds of stories with all the credibility of an Eliot Yeo shot at goal.

The megathread has a similar strike rate for intelligent contribution so in an attempt to provide posters with a readily accessible link to actual developments throughout the trade period this thread will contain links to news stories/posts that contain worthwhile information. If you want to discuss anything then go to the megathread so that people don't have to wade through pages of subway sandwich updates or the same piece of news posted ten times to inform themselves of new developments.

Anything deemed not worthy of this thread will be removed. Repeat offenders will be hit with a wet lettuce leaf and forced to watch all 432 of Brent Harveys games for North Melbourne

At the time of posting the following has actually happened :

Retired - Damian Cavka and Xavier Ellis
Retired / Delisted - Pat McGinnity and Kane Lucas
Delisted - Jamie Bennell, Brant Colledge and Alec Waterman
Shafted - Cory Adamson

Brady Rawlings has been promoted to list manager and his midfield coach position is vacant
Existing list manager Adrian Battiston has been given a recruiting and contracts role based in Melbourne

Our current drat picks are 12,30,48,66 and 84

And Freo still suck

http://m.afl.com.au/news/2016-09-18/eagles-join-chase-for-demon-jesse-hogan

A decent summary of an interview with Craig Vozzo on 6PR by Peter Vlahos and known idiot Kim Hagdorn. Keep in mind that Vozzo was responding to the questions he was asked and didn't volunteer anything outside a direct answer to each question

Cliffs :
Sumich - had discussions with him but we are looking for a new midfield coach and Sumich isn't interested in that type of role so it was a mutual decision not to continue talks

Petrie - yes we are considering him along with a wide net of other unnamed players. We expect to know soon if Petrie is interested

Darling - not up for trade and expect him to be a good player for years to come.

Brown - is considering his options

Mckenzie - is contracted and not up for trade. Eric hasnt indicated any intention of leaving

Hogan - we've maintained with his management and would be interested in him if the possibility arose. Well duh

Hill - triggered a clause in his contract that contracts him for 2017

Ballantyne - doesn't think hill remaining at the club would make us a less desirable destination for Ballantyne. Didn't say if we were considering him or not

List - waiting for AFL to advise what the salary cap for next year will be but assuming it's in line with estimates he doesn't expect much in the way of further list changes. Did say they were waiting on the cap figure before finalising the position of a couple of players. Didn't say who

Anyone else see this article? Would be a great get if it comes through... Judd isn't one to throw a rumor out unless there is something for him to base it on imo:

http://www.triplem.com.au/sydney/sp...s-judd-flags-another-suitor-for-tom-mitchell/

"Chris Judd has flagged West Coast as a possible suitor for Sydney star Tom Mitchell."

"Mitchell looks likely to head to Hawthorn in the off-season - but Judd has other ideas.

"A little bit came across 5CJ Radio, my own personal radio station, which has broken a couple of big stories this year," he said on Triple M's The Rub."

"I wouldn't be surprised if West Coast came for him late. He lived in Western Australia for quite a while, he's got some very good friends there. (He) played junior football for Claremont."

Probably belongs in the other thread, as this is a rumour, not news.

Also need more context - Judd may have been asked "what do you think of Mitchell going to West Coast?" and he gave that answer.

Also what the hell is 5CJ Radio?

For what it's worth it was on the rub and is available to listen to via podcast. He was actually asked about Mitchell going to the hawks, and he threw the Eagles' hat in the ring without notice.

As for the location of my post, fair enough, I've almost given up on that thread tbh. Figured at least this came from the mouth of one of our premiership stars. Mods - please move if inappropriate.
