Happy days! An absolute smash and grab that one
Jets ST has been hired. They were 4th in kick off coverage, 3rd in kick off returns, 15th in punt coverage and 30th in punt returns.
They were ranked 18th overall, and honestly we don't need to be brilliant - just competent that doesn't give the ball up in key moments.
Like everyone watching would have the feeling when the fake punts were coming..... Except for the 49ers sideline.

I really like Deebo as a player, but last year he was awful in the 2nd half of the season as the wheels were falling off.
His point of view was that he wasn't getting the ball enough, yeah right
. Is there even a market that would have interest in him?
I think it was an incredibly poor season with coaching/play design.
Kyle trying to be the OC, and the DC really showed that if you spread yourself thin then the thing you're great at will suffer, and it only takes a team to be off by 10% and they're probably going to lose.
These hires hopefully mean that Kyle can focus.good experience across the board. Almost like when the Cats got in Neil Balme so Thompson could just focus on coaching.

Wherever he goes, he'll need to sharpen his attitude to preparation in the off-season. He was apparently 20 pounds heavier then the team would have liked, and I heard countless podcast updates on he's sloppiness at training camp with the drills and finishing then off.
In a league where inches matter he's at risk of dropping away significantly. He was basically ineffective in the run game with 3.2 yards per carry and 1 TD, where the past 3 seasons with similar carry volume he was averaging 6 yards and 5 TD. His receiving stats were equally unimpressive. It feels like he's lost his YAC, so the volume and usage is there, but the runs and receptions aren't busting.

Assume he would be a 1st June cut and teams can sign him at a discount rate.

I'd imagine we'd keep him another season, no comp picks if he gets cut and signs elsewhere.
The rest of the league is a little higher on Deebo than we would expect. No haul for him but I'd be surprised if a team with a young qb didn't add him. Washington, Denver, Houston, New England could all use him.
It might be a combo of day 3 picks, which are useful to us.
Id be happy to double up with our first 2 picks in the draft on DT/DE to strengthen the D, especially after the challenges from last year.

I think the Aiyuk talk is a bit unsettling, especially as there's going to be almost no market for him other than a bigger dead cap hit than Deebo.

The real test is which way Shanahan now calls the offense? 80 touches a game to CMC or a more balanced attack without being obliged to force feed Deebo.
