I think you'd be very surprised how often this happens, it just doesn't come out in the media like this one has.

I’ve recruited sales people from competitors for my own business for years.
The first question that I ask is where would you like to meet. The ones that are happy to do it openly are that disgruntled they are either about to leave or want it to get back for leverage.
For what ever reason Oscar chose not to be discreet as he could’ve been. Could’ve easily have waited two weeks until gathered round.
If it did come out he had to have known the media in the West would blow it up, and have a disrupting effect on his team mates. While you’re captain of the club with young players looking to you, I think it’s more important to do everything you can to keep it behind closed doors.
I’m sure it happens all the time, we don’t hear about it because they’re more discreet.

In terms of discretion, have there been any photos reported of the meeting? Or even of Sam or roughie in Perth? I haven’t seen any, so assuming this media speculation/frenzy all originated from a leak. Happy to be ‘educated’ on this.

The question is were Allan and Mitchell actually seen, or has Allan's manager leaked this to media to leverage the Eagles into producing a better deal. Although it seems from the outside the Eagles know they will be able to get a top 5 pick from this, so may be happy to let him walk.

Why unneeded? It puts pressure on everyone making an offer. WC, Hawthorn and Brisbane. His manager is trying to panic WC into a better deal by letting everyone know both HFC and BFFC are offering more years and cash. WC, for their part, seem to be saying, “No, that’s fine, we’ll stick with our offer and will let him go for the FA comp.”

None of the teams would release this info as it only pushes them to up their offers. And I don’t think it was a Joe Q Public who leaked this as there would be an iPhone photo to go with it. I reckon it was his management. They perhaps didn’t expect the media to lose its shit like this as this really isn’t out of the ordinary, but you can’t always predict when children will throw a tantrum.

Very similar comments last year about why we would be targeting Barrass - so far so good on that acquisition. Lewis has never played more than 15 games in a season - safe to say an insurance policy wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. Gunston won't go on another year. Scaife isn't a guarantee to make it at senior level. I have no qualms going into next season with Allen, Chol a still recovering Lewis and still developing Dear. List balance, depth and flexibility is so important - look how we have been able to plug gaps this year.

If someone at an airline leaked information like this it would be very much illegal. If Sammy was wearing a baseball cap and sunnies through the airport nobody would have an earthly clue who he was. I bet coaches/recruiters move around the place quite a bit without anyone really knowing.

So how did it get leaked?

Someone seeing Sam and his wife in Perth (Who were there for other commitments anyway) doesn't equate to Sam meeting Allan for a sell meeting.

Surely Allan's management wouldn't have been dumb enough to leak......and Hawthorn don't leak this stuff either......so how?
