Wow. Iggy accepted and then the Kings have pulled their offer. Iguodala is pissed off according to reports. Way to go Kings, you did it again.

Nope. He never accepted. Which is why we pulled out, he didn't answer quick enough for our liking.... so they say. But he never actually accepted.

From where I read it said he accepted. My bad.

But still. 1 day... that is VERY strange

I'd match Tyreke in the $10-11 mill range, anything over that is a tough call.

This was my guesstimate on May 13, turns out to be precisely the conundrum the Kings face- do you match 4 years, $44 mil?

My gut says you will match, particularly given the unorthodox and abrupt Igoudala about-face.. what say you Kings fans?

(I'd by lying if I said that I predicted my beloved NOLA would be the team throwing money at Tyreke- we already have a packed backcourt as it is- it's a puzzling move IMO).

That looks so weird. Him not wearing 23 is just weird. Especially being a fan of the Jayhawks.

Well since he is a great shooter... new Peja? ;)

Given Peja was a multiple All-Star for you, is there any chance he gets his #16 retired?

Looks doubtful now if McLemore has been given the green light to wear it.

It hadn't even been a day? Surely something else must have happened?

My guess is that Tyreke decided he wanted to stay a King, hence he hasn't signed the offer sheet. This gave the Kings a choice of Reke or Iggy and so they pulled out of the offer at the last minute.

I don't think it will be retired under Peja. He was a great player but you have to be really special to get a number retired.

unless you play for the celtics

True, but Vlade got his number retired for playing 6 seasons in Sacramento (I think?).

Peja can make a very similar case.

I didn't think Iggy accepted, he just delayed so Sacra said no deal?

If so, I don't think it's necessarily bad. They get attention as a team who isn't going to wait around for a Free Agent to delay and delay and then the chance they get rejected and left behind in the race for other players they're keen on.

Yeah found that out after the post :/

I'm still deciding whether I like the decision or not. Iggy is a great player.

I really hope we match! To me a 23 year old Evans at $44 million over 4 years is better than a 29 year old Iggy on $56 million over 4 years.

Play Tyreke 36 minutes per game and use him correctly and he is worth that contract next year. He will be entering his prime during that time. OTOH Iggy will be 30 in january and I reckon by year 3 that contract becomes a monster and unmoveavle for 1-2 years.

Don't get me wrong, I love Iggy would would be just about a perfect SF with Evans/McLemore backcourt but not at that price and certainly not if it costs us Evans.

It is obvious from Tyreke and his camp that his strong preference is to stay in Sacramento but he wants the Kings to offer him a compareable deal to the one your mob offered him. I can only think that he is holding out on agreeing to terms with Pelicans because he is giving Sacramento a chance to come to the table. Your offer is reportedly structured to make it difficult to match so I suspect Tyreke would prefer to agree to a deal with the Kings rather than get them to match the signed offer.

Word is that Iggy' s agent was using the Kings offer to bump up the offer from Denver and we decided that we are not going to be played so we pulled the offer and went in a different direction. Hopefully re-signing Reke and maybe signing AK47 to a 2-3 year deal.

I would rather walk away from this FA period with a re-signed Evans, amnestied Salmons and signed AK47 than with a signed Iggy, amnestied Salmons and Evans signing with another team!

I think you'll match.

It's weird, because I would have thought that Iggy would have been a more desirable signing for us than for you guys at this point in time, and vice versa with regards to Tyreke..

Almost worked out the other way around

I think we will unless we decide that it might be time to blow it up and rebuild around Cousins and McLemore. Let Tyke walks, trade all the other contracts for cap space inly, tanks to get a good pick. Draft a good player and attack the free agency next off season!

With the new ownership, I doubt we get worse on purpose! I think part of pulling the Iggy offer might have been that we needed to know where we stand in order to decide what to do with Evans.

Now we want to S&T for Lopez and Vasquez.

I'm starting to get pissed off

My mancrush on D'Allesandro went a little something like this...

Who needs Iggy when you have Salmons and Outlaw?

Realistically this season was never going to be a success. The Maloofs left this team in a terrible position, and yes it sucks to let Reke go, but hopefully it's for the best. Like we win the lottery next year. God if we don't... **** next season will be rough.

Well it's official....

PG: Vasquez, Thomas
SG: McLemore, Fredette
SF: Salmons, Outlaw
PF: Patterson, Thompson, Hayes
C: Cousins, Aldrich(maybe)

So.... how about that Lottery.....
**** that is a terrible team! It's amazing how the loss of one player can set the team back that much! I still can't believe we pulled this shit! Disastrous free agency so far. Worse than Maloofs the last few years!
