No way we are sacking him after a one game. Partly because that one game ended with us on the top of the ladder, partly for the cash, partly for the PR of sacking a coach in the middle of a global catastrophe.

Thats the thing, we wouldn't be sacking him.
Unless we make finals he is out of contract, i'm not sure you could argue a compromised season (or cancel season) is unfair and he didn't have the opportunity. Failing either those two situations he is gone. The club knows how the members feel about him, there is no conceivable way they can afford giving him another year (unless contractually obliged to)
The club also knows that the media would kill us for not giving him his entire contract on a technicality based on an unprecedented event. It's just going to happen and there's nothing we can do at this point
The club knows they cant afford to give him next year, membership and attendance is down because they have had enough of him.
They wont give him another year because, "poor kenny didn't get a fair go" unless he triggers the extension (or maybe lawyer argues it) we will have a new coach next year, to give him another year would be a slap in the face of the supporter base. We are already down over a million in membership revenue (last year) and after this year we sure as hell cant afford that again next year.

If Ken gets another year of vanillaising our young players and white shotgunning our club's ethos I won't be back. One year of not being able to maybe make finals doesn't discount the five that came before it being like opening the door to a bag of flaming turds.

I don't like it either. My guess is that next year is a reset of this year and if we're lucky there's very little change. If we're not and the league goes broke maybe we run with a composite AFLX bullshit set up and we all start supporting the South Western Sharks.
Not even sure how the AFL will run the draft/force delistings, my guess would have been that McKenzie was one of the first out but he was named in round one and played alright so I guess he gets another year.
