Wow kane Cornes doesn’t have much faith in Goodwin. I would hate to be a Senior Coach that comes up against Goodwin and performs badly. Kane would have you sacked on the spot. Oh wait

LOL nice one Kane - within 14 months, Goodwin was a premiership coach.

The most egregious part of the succession plan is that means they've already greenlit him for the next 2 seasons regardless of performance.

Absolutely pathetic football club.

Carr has done his apprenticeship. If you want Carr, why are we waiting 2 years?
Doesn't the word "succession plan" infer that there's actually been some success?

Enabled by a bunch of spineless sycophants on the board and in the media, Koch has somehow deluded himself into thinking we are a successful club that has the luxury of doing things such as succession plans.

When in reality, measured against every key metric Port Adelaide has ever judged itself by (yes, even in early-ish AFL days), he is presiding over a failed state.

There should be an ESPN 30 For 30 doco on how the club was allowed to be hijacked and held hostage by these complete impostors.

Idiots like Cornes and Koch keep bringing up Ken's 60(ish)% win/loss record - conveniently leaving out the damning stat about his record against top 4 teams. But as long as we can win 13 minor round games in a row, that's apparently all that matters.

Pathetic.

So far this year we've beaten up three bottom ten teams, and lost our only game against a top eight one.

This week it's a top 8 team at home at night, the Bermuda trifecta. If we don't win this then nothing has changed. The time for succession is now, if we wait for "success" we'll all be here for ever, and I for one won't be alive to see it :(.

We'll knock over the Dockers and Saints without too much trouble I reckon, but you can bet your ass we'll spill both the Collingwood and Crows games. The Showdown bright lights on a Thursday night will be way too hot for our boys. #Scary

Because Ken is being paid for two years.

It all seems logical but not sure id trust what I’m hearing.

Kanes comments about ‘now Ken finally has tall defenders’….. always the ‘what if’s’…….

He just has a personal agenda for Ken for whatever reason, probably just to be the opposite to the white noise.
Kane is forever indebted to Hinkley because he gifted him games to get to 300, before he went off and did his work experience with the MFS. Plus a new head coach would probably get rid of chad pretty quickly

Kane, stop embarrassing yourself. "Ken deserves support". "Hinkley fatigue". LOL. How much *ing support does the guy need? Fatigue? I have had the worst case of Hinkley chronic fatigue syndrome since 2016. Geez, pee off forever, both of you.
At this point, it's gone beyond gaslighting to whatever the next rung above that is.

12 years, mulitple regenerations of his playing list, had his coaching staff refreshed regularly, supported by excellent drafting and incredibly active in free agency/attracting experienced recruits.

If Ken got boned tomorrow, he could not have one single gripe about the support he's received over the length of his tenure.

This club, lead by the Snake Oil Salesman Koch talks so much dumb bullshit it is difficult to know what to believe, but as this has been flagged so early in the year, when we are travelling relatively well at 3 and 1, it kind of feels like they might be trying to telegraph something?
Maybe, just maybe, Ken is feeling drained by the scrutiny he's getting. Whilst sections of the media gargle his balls, the hatred from sections of the Port Adelaide community is palpable. Ken would be feeling this. So is the club. For Kane to come out and say what he said about the club listening to members too much, he knows something. Just reckon both the club and Ken, if we have another inevitble finals failure, might just part ways a year early. Hinkley is an old man in poor physical and mental capacity, he must be tired, he must be feeling the constant heat, which will only ramp up even higher with another finals capitulation, I reckon there just might be a deal whereby Hinkley steps down (after being financially compensated) and Carr takes over a year early. Maybe wishful thinking, but it does have that whiff about it.

Fortunately he will literally never come back to the club once he's gone. He'll be wearing a Geelong polo the second he's not contractually obliged to wear a Port one.

Ironically the only way my mind will change about him is if he doesn’t do that.
If he stays in SA and does stuff for and around the club without being paid a million a year.

Then I’ll think he’s a good bloke, but limited in his execution coaching.

But I reckon he’ll have his bags packed weeks before.

I wouldn't be surprised if he came to the occasional club event in his Geelong polo solely out of spite.
I'll give him a personal tour of the museum being sure to point out all the premiership cups and be sure not to miss the interactive screen complete with Hinkley insults.

....
This was "flagged" by the Victorian centric AFL media rehashing a story from August 2023 during Gather Round when the focus was on South Australia. IMHO people are reading far too much into this.

Wait 3 years for the 20 year anniversary of the Cats' 07 flag and Ken will be rocking the club polo.

'Something special coming back to this footy cwub, blokes like Stevie, Gaz and Moons all were the best I've seen in me time.'

He's as much as a Port man as Gary Ayres was with the Crows.

They're just growing," Hinkley said.

"Josh is doing an outstanding job of growing that young group of midfielders. Willem Drew has stepped up this year, he goes unnoticed by lots but not by us. The (other) three get noticed a fair bit and I think Ollie's back in some form too."

I wonder if Josh could do the same with the whole team if he was coach!

I wish I could get paid 800k a year to do **** all.

A team with a midfield of Rozee, butters, JHF, drew and wines should be winning multiple flags with basically no input.

Instead handbrake Hinkley keeps telling them how scary everything is and how hard it is to win flags. Richmond just won 3 with a pretty unspectacular list, bar Dusty who was pretty good.

It drove Malthouse to win a flag in 2010, whose to say Hinkley couldn't do the same?

Probably the fact that Malthouse prior to 2010 had 2 premierships and 5 grand final appearances to his name as opposed to Hinkley famously having donuts in both columns.

While the thought of Ken no longer being coach is heartening it is a bit frustrating that a succession plan means we don't get the far more satisfying outcome of seeing the loser marched out the door after being sacked. Instead we'll be subjected to the usual people having a circlejerk and telling us again how lucky we were to have a coach who delivered absolutely zero success and peed on countless club traditions.

The whole succession plan reeks of the club trying to stage manage the narrative and appease as many people as possible. The people who've been calling for his head since 2016 finally get someone new (even if an internal hire rather than an exhaustive search), and the Happy Clappers can feel like they didn't back an out and out loser because he didn't get sacked and chose to finish on his own terms. The lack of ruthlessness and accountability at the club right now is sickening.

“over the next ten seasons of Hinkley2Carr we finish 5th, 8th, 4th, 9th, 10th, 8th, 5th, 7th, 10th, 4th;

I get the feeling that Lloyd doesn't have a high opinion of Donuts. When we extended our Daddy in 2017

Lloyd was asked his thoughts saying "very lucky I would've thought". Last night Lloyd was asked about Freo and St Kilda and

whether they were premiership material/threats. IIRC he says "no they're too focused on defence, they don't score enough,

not sure they'd even win a Prelim" lmao. So while Kane was mouthing off about our win/loss record Lloyd just sat there

staring maybe even thinking i'd better not say anything... i've got to work with this guy. Luke Darcy on the other hand.

I mean sheesh the venom he aimed at Kane 😲 and I had to laugh when he said "I hope you don't take this the wrong way"

yeah right.
