I was going to give a TED talk on whether it's a potato scallop or potato cake but at the risk of filling this thread with rubbish, I won't. (scallop is the right answer for those playing at home).

I always get the vacant stare from fish and chip shops in Melbourne when I ask for potato scallops - and I’ll be damned if I’m regulating my speech just because this entire state decided to be wrong.

Without doxxing yourself what general of area did Hodgey settle in? Was a former inner-east resident myself and I’m assuming he’s around there for ease of travel to the Gabba?

Makes sense - nice area and I did stints in Cannon Hill, Camp Hill and Woolloongabba myself. Hoping the lure of media money or a head coaching job lure him back down to Melbourne soon though as I don’t want those 4 boys getting anywhere near the Lions academy.

My mates who are former players (league & union) are usually pretty happy to chat, assuming the timing is reasonable.
The more time that passes the less often it happens, so it is more nice than a hassle. Mind you none are as big a profile as Luke Hodge, so it might be a little different for him.

Although...sometimes I cut up a few and mix them with fried rice from the local take-out place. They add a nice flavor.
