Close thread. Now.

No bring on finals and then a fall down the ladder in 24!

Lets Fight About It GIF

Thus far, really - we've beaten who we were supposed to beat (and there's something to be said for that, not losing any of those), and lost to who were meant to lose to (Melbourne game excepted).

Shockingly after 12 games, it feels like we haven't really played a lot of teams around us. Only ones I would probably claim are Richmond (win, by clear coin-toss game) and St. Kilda. I suppose now with benefit of hindsight you could argue Gold Coast.

But the next 6 games or so is where our season gets fun/interesting.

Carlton
Away to Fremantle
Home to Port
Home to Adelaide
Away to Geelong
Bulldogs

Two hard games imo (Freo and Geelong) then 4 really interesting games. All tricky in their own right, all winnable.

Doing the ladder predictor I’m still not sure we’ll make it.

Ultimately I don’t really think it matters. We’ll scrape in and lose the first final like we always do, and I’ll have the same Bombers finals meme sent to me by 35 people.

You have to finish Top 4 and that’s what we’re working toward in future years.

This year I would think that if we make it we would be more of a chance of winning a final simply because we will still have to beat a couple of good sides to get there . My personal view is will be be a win or two short and finish with 11 or 12 wins. A decent improvement on last year. My pocket hopes we get there as I had a pineapple on us the make the 8 after a good day on the punt in January

If we can beat Carltank tonight we will move to 6th on the ladder but are on the same points as Brisbane who are 4th..
We'll then get Parish, Shiel & Setterfield back after the bye and can aim not just to stay in the top 8 - but really launch for top 4 spot...!!!

Obviously not expecting to win the GF or anything, but I think we'll easily make finals.

This would be as good a time as any to finally break our X day drought without a finals win.

Win an Elimination final, get the monkey off our back and go into 2024 stronger and with more confidence.

I think our team has turned a corner (knock on wood). We have won tight games this year where we would have previously just lost.
Our game plan, the structure, is holding up well and will only get better.

Maybe it's the easy draw, but this year has thrown new challenging teams and made some sure top 8 teams falter.
I see Essendon finishing in the top 8, maybe even winning a final this year.

Next 4 weeks are as critical as they come for us;

Carlton to be put to the sword, we win, solid top 6 and go 2 games clear inside the 8
Fremantle are a bipolar side, we win over in the West and media start talking us up more seriously
Power at home is a game I would chalk as a loss but who knows, if they keep winning, surely they need to fall eventually?
Crows at home is another that needs us to continue locking in wins we should be winning even though they are playing a good brand of football in a similar spot to us competing for that 6-10th spot on the ladder as well.
Get through this at least 2:2 and we head into the last 1/3 of the season 9-7 needing to win at least 2 against Cats, Dogs, Swans (h), Eagles (h), Roos (h), Giants (a) and Collingwood to lock up a spot in September would be a good achievement for the 3rd youngest list in 2023.

Na just win it this year. Put it on dynasty mode
