Squeezed in a small upgrade this week (Maric to Rozee) as I knew the downgrade options would be grim. Solid chance of no trades – no rookies require immediate culling, can still ride out ZReid, SPPremo, Lashcroft, Prior, Kako and Stone for a little longer.

Though if I had to go early on someone, it'd probably be Buss.

What was the reasoning for trading Maric? Dees, Tigs, Saints next 3 are pretty positive matchups for defenders and hes scored 80+ every week in our teams. Would have thought you'd rather him on field over a rookie. Might look like a genius move if he spuds it up today and Rozee looks like an excellent trade in but i didnt even consider moving on from Maric.

Because I already got Daicos last week, so wanted to jump on an upgrade that not many were doing this week (knowing that I probably couldn't upgrade next week due to lack of downgrades).

Rozee's BE was 60, Maric's 54, so with Rozee's 118, he likely goes up more in price anyway and if/when he gets DPP, nearly everyone's gonna want him. Thought I might as well get him for a basement price now.

That, and I have zero faith in terrorist Mini not throwing Maric around/subbing/dropping him at some stage.

After watching last night's game Freija & Callaghan are great to watch so let's get them in.
I think I will have just enough to do the following 2 trades. (No boosts left)

Short > Freija
Davidson > Callaghan (Roughie)

If Hustwaite looks the goods today, I think I'll go early on him or Busslinger. Either for Knevitt/CHall or Trainor. Most likely Trainor, but I'm also reluctant to cull rookies that are solid on-field options.

2 week plan assuming both rooks look okay and I have the cash from these downgrades (+$49k itb) is

Trainor, Knevitt/CHall, Moraes > Buss, Hustwaite, Chad

Going to be touch-and-go, think I'll have $255k to swap Moraes for Chad after next week.

Would leave me with ZReid, Bice and Lashcroft as the only rookies on-field.

I'm tempted to hold Trainor too, but am paranoid about the Balta influence. Trainor seems to rely on intercept possessions for solid scores, and those will likely dry up when Balta is in the team. But he could also be a great hold and get to $300k while being a solid on-field rookie.

I'm tempted to hold Trainor too, but am paranoid about the Balta influence. Trainor seems to rely on intercept possessions for solid scores, and those will likely dry up when Balta is in the team. But he could also be a great hold and get to $300k while being a solid on-field rookie.

Balta playing is a good thing for Trainor and he hasn't had many intercept marks anyway. He isn't really a KPD at the moment with our main bigger defenders being Miller,Vlas,Broad & Balta. He is playing the same role as Tom Brown who was sub this week. I would much prefer both Brown & Trainor play and Short be the sub.

I did the exact same Scythe, Maric was my only way to jump on Butters and will not regret that one bit.

I want to keep the upgrades rolling. The easiest route this week looks like potentially Maric (unless he has a belter today) to one of Zorko or Dunkley.

No idea on the rookie yet as I had to take Huswaite sight unseen and I'd like to give my def rookies another week or two (which makes Bus difficult).

Surely Maric is a hold until the byes if he keeps going 80+? Strong potential for another spike game (even if it's not today) and unlikely to lose cash with his role.

I get the logic but I'd personally prioritise building towards getting my weakest rookie off the field rather than trading a midpricer that isn't hurting me and is unlikely to start hurting me.

I get it, absolutely.

But at the moment my weaker rookies are making cash so I don’t want to cull them. Maric, while he is unlikely to lose cash, is getting close to his ceiling. This is an upgrade I can do without using a boost. c$100k for a comfortable 20 ppg seems solid business.

Focus on the other rookies when maxxed.
