But we were told that was only to combat Bumrah and he doesn’t really bat like that…
Watch the entire 7 balls of his innings and maybe add in the first 6 of Maddinson’s.

Both had a good look at the conditions…

Konstas' shot has to be seen to be believed. The arrogance of this lad will destroy his career. Imagine playing that shot against one of the most accurate bowlers in history.
Yep. He's batting like shit now and is buying into his own media hype. If he continues to play like that, he won't be successful in Shield cricket much less test cricket.

He wasn't impressive for Australia, even the first innings where he scored runs was very, very lucky/streaky. Not saying he isn't talented as he very clearly is, but his temperament has left him and I wouldn't write him off as from all accounts before the Melbourne innings and before the ridiculous media hype he actually played normally. Needs to get back to that asap.

He didn't in any of the games prior to the Test series.

It looks like having wild swinging come off once has gotten into his head.
The NSW media hype train definitely hasn't helped him. The selectors made the right call in the test series.

I'm not doubting him as he has made some good scores (playing sensibly) at just 19 but he seems to have just completely changed the way he's batting off of one lucky innings.

Need to keep them to under 200 if possible. Pitch looks pretty flat but might turn day 4, don't want to chase too many
Won't keep them below 250 and will b lucky to keep them under 300. We don't know how to take the last few wickets quickly, as per the last 2 games.

cricket.com.au literally tries to spin his atrocious shot into almost a positive:

I don't think anyone who knows their cricket thinks the lad doesn't have the ability. That's why we get on his back, because we know he has so much more to offer. However, his shot today was so poor, you wonder what it takes for him to bat responsibly.

Since Melbourne I think Konstas has been battling with his mind over what batting approach he needs to adopt. I saw almost every ball of his dual tons and there was no funky shot making, only good coventional cricket strokes. Then by playing with aggressive intent and innovation, the whole cricket world saw how he took down Indias premier bowler who was starting to terrorize the Aussies. That worked a treat so he probably decided 'hey I'll stick with it'. Boland showed him today that a very experienced and canny bowler can bring that mindset undone quickly. Sam and his long time coach will work out together what he needs to do going forward.

Beat me to it.

Obviously disappointed we let them get away a little but hopefully we can dig in. 28 overs left in the day, see off the new ball hopefully and bat all day tomorrow
