It's the game two years ago that concerns me when they poleaxed us by kicking 16.9 in the first half.

Now I know that they're a different team at present,
We're a different side.

Maturity and experience will be the difference from last season.

We didn’t hold on in our H&A game. In fact we shouldn’t have even been playing to hold on.

We didn’t adjust quick enough to the pressure they threw us early in the semi final. We actually seemed a bit rattled at first.

Neither of these things should be issues for us this time based on how we’ve handled our games so far this season.

I expect us to win, with the margin to be determined by how much Port want to fight it out. Ken seems to have a unique ability to get them to temporarily turn into superstars but in recent seasons they’ve already looked like a finals bound team when he’s done that. I don’t think anyone could say that about them this year.

It was interesting that in Sam's presser before this game, he said Cam Mackenzie is our best power athlete - in terms of his acceleration and deceleration - and that is why they limit his game time to keep his power at its maximum level.

Sam said the coaching group was considering whether to increase his game time after Day's injury.

Last years final has spooked a lot on here it seems. We r a better team. Much more resilient and relentless. Bring it
Because last year’s final showed how much football is played above the shoulders.

Agreed.

If I had to pick one word to describe our attitude and performances this year, it would be 'professional'.

If we bring cool and calm professionalism to the show tonight, I expect us to win - probably by plenty.

It spooked me.
I had no idea that Rioli could beat Dimma. That Burgoyne would be best on, and we'd make Georgiades look like Lockett.
Was insane how well some of their lesser lights played that night.

Yes but that matters little if u r not capable. U can only achieve as much as u can. If someone or team is capable of more it doesn't matter. We are ready for this. We have been waiting for this

Would love to see Chol kick a bag. The guy deserves a bit of icing for all the defensive effort and responsibility he's carrying.

Some predictions:

1. We'll come out a little slow. Post-bye effect.
2. One of their lesser lights will kick 3 goals.
3. JHF will have one quarter where he really lights them up for a bit
4. We'll win the clearances in a big way with Worpel back
5. Watson to kick a few - don't think they've got enough small defenders to shut down Moore, Ginni and Watson
6. The media is drumming up the grudge element of this side and after the match the players will say they never thought about it and it wasn't mentioned in the lead up
7. Josh Battle will kick his first goal for the hawks
8. We'll lose the free kick count by about 5 but still hear cries of #freekickhawthorn if/when we win
You forgot the obvious one of Butters being an antagonistic pr*ck all game.

I think this will be closer than many believe. Hawks by 20 points.

Though if we can make it 100, no injuries and no reports, I won’t oppose the motion.

Put it this way. Ppl say that football is played above the shoulders and they will be motivated to play well. Why r ppl not using the same logic on us we r and have been waiting for this game since the semi final loss. We r probably more ready for this game than any other. We r not going in with any illusions because we know the outcome if we do. I am confident this team has learnt from its mistakes. I believe in them to bring the points home
