Inexperienced side v pretty good experience finals hardened sides

H Davis was BOG in one of the practice games ( Sunday Times ) from memory , so not that surprising .

Really hard working on the track is Davis so that example and some improvements over preseason might have helped lead to the earlier than expected call up

For a club that's supposedly fixed its strength and fitness department how's the luck on the ****ing injuries again. Preseason, ok who's your best player, Yeo? No worries, out. Next Best? Waterman, ok we'll put him out. Next best? McGovern, haha sorry, out. Next best? maybe Ryan? oh he's so out. Does the universe wants us to get pick one again or are all these players going to be available again very soon and from 0-5 we just go bang? Injury list of: best forward, best mid, best defender, best utility- unlucky but kind of ideal short term when you are in a position of needing players from the next tier to step up during the obligatory AFL sanctioned "make sure west coast don't win a game for as long as possible" start to the season I don't mind it, sets us up well for when they return. Probably not going to start our run this week but GWS are a club we love an upset over. Call be an optimist but we're due for things to click at some point, football is momentum, we aint got none but a single win can start the ball rolling.

I must say I find this whole Hedwards omission on top of a McGovern injury and Allen into defense thing very bizarre. Both weird in their own right.

Firstly giving up on our key forward, who also happens to be our captain, playing defence just seems very... Premature. Also stupid. Particularly with Waterman not playing.

Without Hedwards he'll certainly have to go into defense which just seems like a cop out. "Oh he's in shit form as a forward for a couple week so let's just bin that idea and he can play defense..." Lel. Firstly he hasn't played defence properly in how long? Last time I recall consecutive games down back was 2018 or 2019? Secondly he's clearly a better forward than a defender. Nobody is recruiting him as a RFA in the open market to play defense. Whole thing is very weird.

Which then leads us into Hedwards. He was average last week and I don't particularly rate him in general, but gee whiz that's a bizarre call when he's clearly our next best KPD behind McGovern. He did a number on Larkey in that pre season game only weeks ago.

Remember when clubs were sniffing around after him in the offseason and we extended his contract because it was super important? Well that bloke has now been dropped in favour of a SSP pickup and a makeshift forward/defender. Hooley dooley. May as well just ask your manager for a trade right now.

Going to make for some delicious viewing.

We should have traded him to one of the teams sniffing around in the offseason. He was pick 18 in the 2018 rookie draft.
Very few in that draft have gone onto be reasonable players. Any pick in a main draft would have been a huge improvement on Edwards.

Harley looks happy, clearly photoshopped. It’s gonna be so funny when he signs an extension and says he’s loving it, just been a little off to start the year, and wants to lead us to our next flag.

We are getting owned tomorrow regardless. The giants are no joke. We’ve been building the list a few years, and the tide is turning. Some older heads about to look real old soon. Ginbey looks like one of our genuine best players across each of our first three games. Some of the young brigade on the list now are so exciting. Can’t wait to get games and build some early chemistry amongst Gross, Hall, Reid, Hewett, Allan in the coming weeks. This is the beginning of getting a few together and starting something new - actually on the field. Love the selections this week and long may it continue. Carn eaglessssss rahhhh

I would never abuse a player going for his marks.If he’d played a 100 games and was still dropping them , then fair enough.

He has to know when to go for the mark and when to spoil.
If he keeps dropping marks, he won't have a long career I imagine.

Slowest Forward line setup in the AFL. This is a big issue for us. Forward line full of slow smalls with Oscar Allen at Full Forward who can only run in one direction and is super slow also.

Should be a fun day at the office watching GWS rebound with ease again.
