I just noticed only 24000+ were at todays game.....and then I saw this

In 2024, the Melbourne Football Club (Demons) had 65,479 members

How bad are they travelling when only a third of their members show up for a home game
A good ski season at Buller and you'll be able to halve that again

Read's frame looks like he will be able to carry some more weight.
Got big hopes for his future.

Probably wouldn’t want to get much heavier his speed is incredible for a giant

Even the commentators were saying during the match that it was unfortunate that we only have one MCG game this year because we're definitely good enough to play on the hallowed turf more than once a year.
Bugger the MCG-when do we get a Friday night game?FFS I reckon Carlton must get 20 a year and they barely have a heartbeat

First time we’ve beaten the Dees since 2014 and a shellacking at the MCG makes it even better. We will finally get some positive feedback from Vic media this week.

I doubt we will. But tbh I’d love to keep flying under the radar and with a game in lieu

Just goes to show you can take the turd out of the bowl but you can't polish it.It's always just a turd.
Be forever thankful he and Lynch left.
I know that sounds crazy but it was Touk, Dave and Wittsy who drew the line in the sand fronted them and said to their faces
"If you don't *ing want to be here then * off.We don't need you"
That was the turning point for the Club
And if you don't think Dimma is the best thing to have happened to us you haven't been watching.
Bowes was a big part of that standing up to May and Lynch, Bowes actually challenged him (Lynch) in a meeting about it before he left

Clickbait

It is a throwback to this poster from 2010

I watched Walter chasing down a couple of potential tackles, his closing speed is unbelievable for a large guy
Jed has always been a strong runner in both short and long distances. In fact, he was a national 800m champion at the U10s level before focusing more on footy. Being better at the 800m as opposed to the 100m/200m tells me that Jed is a little slow off the mark but once he gets going he is frighteningly quick and that's not just quick for a guy his size. Genuinely quick against smaller players and he's going to apply many run down tackles in his career that will excite crowds. He is a legit athlete that could've made it in several other sports and we're lucky to have someone as physically gifted as he is.

You should catch the Mid week Rub or Sunday Rub.

Any show with Leigh Montagna and Daisy Thomas. Both big fans of us, especially Leigh as he actually commentated us.

Finally a good win without Russell or Healy commentating us

Not much to complain about the game. Yes, I would agree that Suns did come of age.

To my liking we were a bit too sloppy in our hand ball link ups and missed a lot of gettable shots but the style, contest was great. We won clearances, Demon could not keep up on spread, mostly chasing us. It was delicious 😂 Watching some Demons players faces after the game was not bad either, haha.

Nothing better than to watch our midfield dominating. I thought Witts did a great job on Gawn. Rowell's burst of speed is hard to believe. Miller is in great form, some clutch goals in 3rd. Humphrey delivering excitement after being down last year. Graham very good for 2nd year.

As I expected Walter, Flanders and especially Mac were a bit rusty in their first game. I thought Rioli had a bit dirty game.

Big shout to Collins, he has a great start to season. Noble surprised me again. I love his crazy dashes despite some mistakes.

Ben what are you doing on some of these set shots? Shaking my head. He should have 6-7 goals. But otherwise he was good.

All players playing roles. It should only get better with confidence building. Beat Crows and we could get on a roll.

Jed would make an amazing openside flanker in rugby union. So athletic and aggressive. He will be sensational if he avoids injury.

Anyone else notice the commentators were referring to Walter, Read, Rogers and Graham as the 'Fab 4' yesterday? I got a kick out of that. Reminds me of West Coast's 'Magnificant Seven' of Perth locals that led them to their inaugural premiership in 1992.

Read's frame looks like he will be able to carry some more weight.
Got big hopes for his future.
From memory, I think I saw an article earlier this year that suggested Read had put on approximately 7kgs in the off season. So it looks like he doesn't have any problem putting weight on. It's just a question of what is his ideal weight for the role we want him to play. As others have said, I wouldn't be advocating for too much additional weight because Read's running ability is probably his biggest physical strength and we wouldn't want to jeopardise that.

I actually think Jed could excel in just about any sport. His height, strength, speed, aggressiveness and explosiveness would make him dangerous in athletics, basketball, rugby, tennis, boxing, mma etc. Just a freak athlete that could've been good at just about anything he put his mind to. Fortunately for us, he put his mind to footy and we're going to reap the rewards for many years.

I remember seeing an interview with him where he stated that a lot of his friends at PBC were expecting him to play rugby league and were surprised when he committed to Aussie rules. It's on us to use the academy to secure phenomenal talents like Walter and try to convince others like Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow to not pursue rugby league and instead accept a full-time scholarship opportunity with us. Would've been a lot of fun to see the Hammer running around in our colours in our top 4 clash at PFS this coming weekend.
