We played some bloody good footy. Disposal still needs some work, but was nice to see a few of our forward entries go in with purpose and hit up a leading target.
Christensen just oozes class, robbo you just have to love, he has his knockers, but I'd have him in my team any day. Andrews will become one of the best kkp in the league. The usual suspects in rich redden and Rockliff were very good.was great to see Hanley, although tagged heavily, go forward and kick a couple. Was your typical good team effort.
Can't fathom how some would prefer to lose, especially against those so an so's.
Agree. Plenty of times i was on the edge of my seat because they made a stupid decision or their handball went past its target or the kick didn't carry. We obviously can run with the ball but tighten that end down and who knows.

I don't what is about cutler but I feel like we are a better side with him in it.

Freemans hands are superb taking those marks. Needs another pre season but has plenty to offer and balances our side out with mc stay being able to play back. Mitch robbo was outstanding and rich was close behind. Zorko, Martin, Christensen redden and rocky gave us so much.

I feel Leppa has moved things around in selection and the coaches box and we look more cohesive and better for it.

I would also be keeping billy Evans he has something to offer our club.

Hahahahaha
The best thing about tonight was that it was a real team effort. No passengers out there for us(although there were at least 15 on the other team).
Great game from Robbo, probably his best at AFL level. I was dead against his recruitment, and he's proven me wrong. Really encouraging signs from a couple of young players who haven't the best seasons in Mayes and Cutler. Freeman was too much for Jamison tonight, might've kicked 6+ if his endurance was up to scratch and he didn't drop a couple of easy ones. Rich and Redden were back to their best tonight, you'd have to be certifiably insane to think trading them is a good idea. You just don't see 18 year old key defenders look as as accomplished as Andrews has this year. His confidence in his kicking has really improved as well now, he's not always taking the safe option/ slowing it down every time. Made Jaksch look like the first year player most of the time and was far too good fro Henderson later on.

Just on Billy, he's got a decent rump on him. Didn't realise he was so thick set.[/QUOTE]

Andrews first year even not his second.
Few thoughts...

So impressed by Harris Andrews, has a great feel for the contest. Knows when to mark and when to punch. Pretty cool with the ball as well. He doesn't have the physicality of Merritt just yet but you'd say he's already a better reader of the play than Rog in just his second year.

You could see the difference some naturally smart players in the forward line makes. Freeman and McGuane look the most natural forwards on the list, and having Christensen and Hanley down there at times really gave us targets.

Also Robbo rules, barrels into every contest and gets on the end of hand passes to run out of the contest. Playing better then he ever did at Blues. 3 votes.

What's with the 2 fifties for running over the mark before they've even blown the whistle. Markers are always be given time to get back behind the mark but he just pinged two brisbane players tonight out of the blue.

Watching freeman at the game he was absolutely cooked at half time. I thought he was fantastic and never gave up. Even though it was obvious his tank has a fair way to go he showed a lot. A full pre-season and he has me very optimistic about next season.

Only Evans & West had under 10 touches, incredible effort.

We need to get more games into Cutler & Dawson, Mayes was back to his best in that first quarter blitz and Paparone continues to rack them up.

Bundy with a 20 & 3 night, he is very special and still so young, same with Andrews - so special and so young!

Mitch ******** Robinson, he is a cult figure already, absolutely busts his gut and leaves it all out on the field, he has my 3 - 2 -1 for the night and is easily a top 5 in the BnF this year.

Taylor, Hanley, McStay & Jed probably the quieter nights.

I could write a paragraph about everyone tonight, but I'll save everyone the eye sore! :p

Cutler is one of those players that is deceptively quick, and his kicking ability is underrated. Looked like he had a 55m stab at goal with only a 3/4 swing. Only thing is he does look a bit unbalanced at times just with when to accelerate and the quicker steps when lining up for goal. He's like a rawer verision of Yeo. A lot to work with but will take a few more games yet.

Just needs a bit of strength through his core doesn't he! I honestly didn't expect Yeo to become the player that he has been this year for WCE. I think we have a bit more to work with with cutler! He is bloody exciting

Great win, showed some good signs. I'm Shattered though. Not because we won, just caps off a horrid season. The luck involved in the fact we win the one game that directly costs us a number 1 draft pick, that will cost us a key forward who WANTS to play for us.. Is just a sick joke. Flat watching that win, mainly because the opposition looked like they were happy to lose.

Yeo was freakishly athletic but was a very raw footballer ie game sense and all

Cutler is a very good athlete but probably not to the level of Yeo, but looks a much more composed and better footballer

Also Dawson appears to have a very good long kick on him, another academy steal, i was fairly sceptical on him when he first started with us, was obviously played in the wrong position, hes more of a back than a forward

There are 3 games left.

TC is going to be an absolute jet for us! Love his run and carry! He just oozes the class that we need from the half back line!!

Reasonable chance for a rising star nom this week, I would think.

We play Hawthorn, Dogs and Adelaide, Carlton play Melbourne, GWS and Hawthorn. Pick 1 still very likely for us IMO. And even if we dont get it theres a chance the tankers will take Weitering. Just enjoy the win!

Sorry to drop in guys, but great win by your boys tonight. :thumbsu:

Really liking the look of the Lions for the future. A young and performing midfield, some quality young forwards who will be very good players with games under their belts and a defence that is currently a work in progress but seems to be getting better week in, week out.

Promising signs for you guys in the next couple of years.

Good to see Lukey McGuane get a gig. Always thought he was a handy footballer. Nothing flash or exciting, but he has a good pair of hands and is hard and tough.

Tough to beat seeing the players excited and happy. Loved a lot of the goal celebrations.

Thought west drew his opponent a couple of times out of dangerous space allowing Freeman to have a decent crack at it which paid off at least once that I saw.

Mitch Robinson truly does have the heart of a lion. Hard not to love him.

In the end Carlton were just too experienced for us. They got the job done.

Why can't I just click Robbo's name 5 times in the vote?

What a champ. Clearly was out for a big night, I was totally fine with that 50 against him for cleaning up whats-his-face. It was made up for with all the other effort he put in - not just in the other many tackles, but constantly getting in and winning the hard ball for us.

Rich looked to be using his long option more this week, I wonder if he's getting over whatever it was that was troubling him. Just in time for the finals.
Was great to see the forward line working with a pick of genuine options to kick to. It'll be awesome when we get that line up working together next year.
