For me it's more a case that I just genuinely do not give a **** about this season. It's so compromised that I'd be perfectly happy to just cancel the whole thing and try again next year. But as they're not doing that, I'm just treating it as an extended preseason for next year - I don't give a toss who wins the flag even if it's us (which it won't be). So if all we're playing are essentially practice matches (although in front of smaller crowds than the usual Community Series games), why would I care if we win them? While the flag isn't worth much this year in my eyes, the players we draft could shape our destiny for the next decade, so why not focus on that?
Looking from a football view only, the way this season is going it's a good time for the down season we were going to have. It's a bit of a free kick for us that whatever we achieve results wise could be attributed to the covid effects on the season.

The main worry for me is whether the ∀FL will somehow mess around with the draft because of the covid effects on the seasons given the work Reid & Hamish have done last year to get us 2 r1 picks (one which could be a top-3 pick), two r2 picks and two r3 picks. As long as they honour previous pick trades and not limit the draft rounds too much, I'll be happy.

The draw back of covid is the reduced opportunity to see the form of draft candidates but maybe it could also work in our favour to get SA boys like Thilthorpe/Baldwin - meanwhile the Poo don't have a r1 pick at this stage.

I assume all the hub teams will be compensated next year with extra home games they missed out on...in the interest of evenness and all

Yeah Collingwood and Richmond will be the first teams to put their hands up for extra away games and in other news I just saw a large pig fly past my office window.

We can flick them one of ours (the latter one) for Rozee #WinWin :p

I certainly don't blame our results this year on COVID-19, every team is dealing with it the same. I just don't care this year :p But I think I see it basically the same as you - if ever you were going to have a bad year then you might as well have it this year.

I guess if the AFL decide to reduce list sizes for next year then any pick beyond about rd 3 will become basically worthless except possibly for any minor points value it might have. From what I understand, I think we've got 2 firsts (ours and GWS) and 2 seconds (ours and Bulldogs). You'd think that would be all we'd use, possibly not even both the seconds depending how many players we have to cut to shrink the list. You'd hope that if the AFL decides to reduce list sizes then they'd allow clubs to delist contracted players and pay them out without having it count under the salary cap. Otherwise we might end up having to cut a younger player who *might* make it just because we're obliged to hold on to a used up has-been simply because he still has 1 season left on his contract (*cough*Gibbs*cough*).

Which makes our future pick trade ups last year an inadvertent lucky break with how things are going now (again assuming AFL house doesn't change the draft too much).

I think there's a good chance we could end up with pick 3 (hence 21 as well), maybe ~15 via GWS and ~30 via WB. We could maybe land Thilthorpe and Baldwin before anyone makes a bid on Edwards (if he nominates us as F-S), and then then there's Newchurch and Borlase we have Academy rights to. That could be a good haul for this year.

Didn’t Wayne Bennet tell his players they had 4 weeks to get rid of the bleached hair or they couldn’t train? Think we need to follow suit, atrocious.

Dennis Rodman went ok

Did you miss the second half of the last Showdown?

Positives for round one selection were McAsey instead of Hartigan and no Mackay. The main negative was selecting Gibbs. Kelly was/is a 50/50 decision when looking towards the future.

We need to see what Frampton and Himmelberg have to offer. There is a solid argument for playing only one ruckman (= ROB) but imho this is also a 50/50 decision.

My preferred changes;
Out: Stengle, Gibbs, Kelly
In: McHenry, Hamill, Doedee
Is hamill definitely ahead of scholl?
Seen hamill picked in a few posters teams.
