I said he left the ground, not jumped. Try running and bumping someone with both feet on the ground…

McGrath instigated the contact. He ran at Sicily who then lowered his center of gravity.

Sicily flicked his leg out and McGrath wouldn’t have budged if he was stable with two feet on the ground.
Yeah but he didn't because Sicily lifted his leg up...

Not defensive enough at this stage.
To add to this he was getting in our other mids way during the practice games against the dogs.

That’s obviously just a time thing but it’s something for him to work on alongside being more defensive.

When he gets the ball he looks great though.

I thought Nash had a reasonable game. He created a lot of space for Worpel in the centre square and did some good things around the ground. Not a great game but it was serviceable and he had some impact.

I agree with you but Nash has to work very, very hard every game to compensate for his lack of footy skills (such as, his kicking). He has to play at an extremely high level to be able to keep his spot in the team.

From 15 mins into the first yesterday Dees clamped the Dogs and it was game over . Completely got the tempo on their terms and the Dogs literally did nothing different to change it.
Gee the Dogs are disappointing side.

Goes without saying if we get stuck going down the line , we probably get a decent loss . And Gawn will have a field day .

Looking forward to see what the coaches come up with .

I just can't stand bombing down the line - Especially when our rucks and key forwards do not pose a threat at this stage.

Please switch or cut through the middle - Dees are good at the intercept but we've just gotta go for it.

Its the old dont get beaten by what you know .
They just set it up so well .

Im no coach but I agree , would love to see us take a chance or two and try to make the ground wide as we can .

I think this is the type of challenge Sam loves . Looking forward to seeing how we handle it .

How many marks has big Max taken against us over the last 5 years waiting for those long bombs down the wing?

Melbourne defensive structures are the best in the land. We had huge problems last year transitioning the ball after half time.

The reason teams go down the line is that all options dry up. This is our biggest issue Melbourne wont let us transition through the middle of the ground. I am looking forward to it

Not many from long bombs. Quite a few lace out to him though......

Yep Dogs tried that and always ended up having to go back wide .......then down the line . Was repeat after repeat .

Will be interesting to see what we do .

We won't go down the line mate.
Good luck to em.

It's a part of the contemporary game that does my head in. A 50 metre kick down the ground, even from a set kick, and opposition defenders marking unopposed with forwards nowhere to be seen. It's got me beaten why a forward cannot even get to the contest for a spoiling option at least.
The only excuse the forward could have is that he was leading and the kick didn't go to him. So then it's on the kicker but backmen don't hang off that loose that McKay would let Mitch Lewis be on his own 20 meters away just expecting the Hawthorn player to instead kick to the defender instead of a teammate.

We did against the dogs. We did a few times against the dons as well. However there is no comparison between the dons and demons. Demons are pretty far ahead structually. I want to see what we come up with

We'll take em on. They're not that good.
Reeves needs to compete all day against Gawn and somewhat nullify him.
If Finn plays, he goes to Claz.
You need aerial threats for May and Lever not to sag off. Lewis will need to lift and Chol/ Gunner become a threat.
Ward to run with Langdon on a wing all day.
Sic to play a blinder.

Only way we can beat them.

We will need the courage to keep trying because we might turn a few over for goals that might make us gun shy. Its only human. Lets see how brave we r

Spot on. Anyone who has watched Mitchell’s pressers knows he labels their defence as the benchmark of the comp. They just dont really switch off and you need to be on to be a chance of beating them.

You think Sicily just misunderstood Sam’s instructions on how to cork a quad?

But seriously, whilst Sam took away the Dee’s wings on previous occasions, and has shown some nouse about the Dees, just not sure he’ll have had time to counter the way the Dee’s were doing 45 degree chips. And they were just played into form by the frogs. A dry weather team where their high risk style is likely to pay off in dry conditions.

Gawn still fresh too, most dangerous time to meet him.
Wasn't he fresh r1? When Grundy pansted him?
