Wow - ball drops off a marking contest to Wood, who has a bit of time to steady and kicks a goal.

1 point difference. Not much gas left in the tank for anyone

Gah. Just felt like our boys still panick in the clinches and give it back to Port so many times.

Understand the heat is up - but just some poor decision making again. Quite frustrating.

We can't win a centre clearance either at the minute.

2nd to ball and less desperate in contest.

Nearly pinched it at end but poor error from Phillips ended the game.

Boys didn't look switched on from beginning.

Hustwaite the standout.

Lewis looks fit which is good.

Ward needs to be more damaging with possessions.

Was a cold day at game.

F.T. BH 9.10 64 to Port 10.11 71
An atrocious first half where we looked sloppy, slow, and not up for the fight. Noticeable improvement in the second but it wasn’t enough in the conditions.

Ramsden my personal BOG. Won plenty of hit outs, threw himself at contests, and tackled hard. He was clearly gassed late in the game but still backed into packs.

Hustwaite won a heap of the ball and applied a lot of defensive pressure. One of the few players who played well in the first half and a great step forward in his development.

Ward was much improved with his contested work and looked a class above at times. With his sublime skills he should back himself to choose the riskier option.

Lewis looked our most dangerous target most of the day. Kicked 2 goals (should have been 3) and dropped some marks he'd usually take. Wasn't a dominant performance but he was moving well.

DGB preferred getting into fights to playing footy in the first half. Was better in the second.

Serong was the pick of the defenders, using his skills to rebound and defending well. Dropped a few he would usually take.

Phillips really struggled with the conditions that hampered his disposal all day. His defensive work was good.

Seamus constantly put his body on the line and worked really hard to defend. His disposal let him down.

Cooper only played the second half and had a positive impact.

BMac was OK. Didn't really stand out.

Bennetts was down on his usual form with the slippery conditions hindering his link play.

Ryan looked reactive in an unfamiliar wing position.

Scafie kicked two cracking goals (one from 65) but provided little else.

Tucker/O’Sullivan largely unsighted.

Couldn’t agree more with this summary. Great work 👍👍👍

Dgb is done

If DGB could forget the fighting and focus on doing the basics very well he could get another year. He is a nice mark.

Maybe he should trying wrestling or fighting as it seems to be his focus from opening bounce. After what 3-4 years in the system you’d think he get it by now football 1st. Fly flag when a team mate is hurt, an only then.

Gave away a 50m penalty 40 mtr out front of goal for a dummy spit …. “ chucked his mouth guard to ground in a tantrum”. This stuff is inexcusable now.

None of us want to admit it but DGB for pick 6 looks laughable. Trade him back to WA and hope we get a 2nd rounder back. Need to cut our losses.

Bloke needs get back home and re-assess his AFL career.
We will not be getting anything close to a 2nd rounder if he leaves that is for sure. His high draft pick does not mean much anymore.

From the boundary:

Rough conditions, good turnout from the Box Hill crowd all things considered.

The sound of the players running into each other was audible everywhere effectively as soon as the ball was live, absolutely brutal game.

Thought Seamus probably had his worst performance in our colours, fought hard but never really got himself into it. Disposal wasn't great.

Wardy fought had, probably our most consistent mid throughout the day I thought.

Scaife looks a right gem, if I'm honest I thought he was more influential than Lewis.

Ryan looks to be learning his new position further up the ground, bloody rough game to do so it.

Sugar looked scared of the contest at times, really needs a couple runs on the board if he is any chance to remain on our list at this point.

As others had mentioned, DGB spent far too much time fighting with the oppo as opposed to defending and working towards a win for us. Spent a lot of time pacing the boundary, kind of had the feel of him battling some demons that impacted his mindset today.

I really felt for the umpires today. I'd be lying if I said I thought they had done their jobs perfectly, but I felt that they were ignoring any kind of holding free or any kind of prohibited but incidental contact.

Was a little bit disappointed at the carry on from some supporters from both sides around some of the kids, be passionate and be supportive but no kid needs to hear some of the tripe that was coming out.

Sucks with the result, but a very wet and painful game.

Hustwaite was good across four quarters, clean hands. Got better as the game went on, probably a little reactive at times.

Ward good across the game, second half much better than his first disposal wise, really set himself apart from the rest of the game in the second half with his cleanliness, burst and skills. Inside game was super and a great step.

Lewis got through unscathed and attacked the footy well, threw himself at packs, played mainly FF, moved well and will come in next week.

Sugar came on and looked good around the contest, sucks injuries have killed him.

Seamus was quiet and tried hard, but his disposal let him down.

DGB focused too much on his man early, second half was much better.

Phillips was good defensively and aerially but his disposal poor. Gave up a goal to seal the game with a poor handball.

Ryan looked lost on a wing, Scaife took his chances but a down game, Ramsden was good and contested hard, Bennetts was clean but didn’t get enough of it.

Overall just a dirty day.

HH and big Max were great in a losing side, Ward and Serong not bad.
Looking at the performances of DGB and Phillips, it is easy to see why Battle has become a bigger priority than Smith for Sam. Sadly, neither are of AFL standard.
Very disappointing loss for what should have been a very strong side.

if he keeps this form up. we may not get anything for him. Even a 4th rounder looks a stretch. Possible delist?
