I am definitely not in the Duryea camp. He was very ordinary in a side where almost anyone could have looked good and has been pretty underwhelming in the 2 JLTs.

If he gets a gig consistently this year, we're in real strife.

Thoughts on playing Crozier forward? He has played most of his career there. His rebound from defence is good but with him and McLean playing forward we would actually have two guys with good goal sense.

I’d play Crozier forward and Suckling back.
He was tried forward last year - wasn't very good. He's much, much better back than forward.
If we're going to do any damage this year we simply have to start playing guys in their best position.

Suckling was playing as a defensive forward - at times on Roberton so clearly that didn't work as Robbo was probably their best. Sucklign needs tobe part of the wing/defensive rotation as he plays better behind the play. His forte is kicking over opposition zones. I can understand the rationale behind trying to get better kicks in the forwardline but Suckling isn't the answer for me.

Sydney own the slowest ball movement in the competition and are not the contested beasts everyone thinks they are,
we have more chance of beating Sydney than we do have beating almost every other side in the competition. We
have the close one here Cotton, and it's not going to be pretty.
With Mills and Heeney in the centre they will move the ball quicker but won't beat us for inside ball. We have to watch Zac Jones' rebound because he could really cut us up, we need to find a defensive forward who can nullify him (Suckling tried and failed in this role).

We beat St Kilda for clearances but that didn't help us.

Maybe the inclusion of Duryea and Suckling back means he might be able to but Bevo seems to like him down back! Doesn’t help with Morris out now too.

Personnel can make a difference, but are they as adept at winning the ball and what do you do with the plodders ?
The return of Tom Liberatore has thrown us a similar situation in that sure it's a positive, but what are the flow on
effects for the rest of the team. Jake Lloyd is the Sydney player who most scares me his ball use is far superior
to that of Zac Jones and he gets midfielder numbers. JLT2 versus St Kilda Rowan Marshall was their top scorer
as a fill in ruck and JLT1 Jarrod Witts was the second top scorer this is a worrying trend that could become a
common theme this year.

Based on Bevos comments this morning on SEN - seems as if Naughts will be playing forward this week. And potentially more often too..

New Rd1 side...

FB Crozier Cordy Duryea
HB Williams Wood Daniel
C Hunter Macrae Richards
HF Lloyd Schache McLean
FF Bont Naughton Gowers
R Trengove Libba Dunkley
I Suckling Smith Wallis Dickson

Will back Duryea to play the Moz shut down role. Not on Moz level but can play.
Williams has not spot in the midfield so hopefully finds his form again on the back flank.
Not much else knowcking the door down so happy to give Smith a crack as small fwd/bench role with the odd run in the guts of rotations require.

Personally I’d give Roberts another crack as the key back as he has size and is a premiership player in that role but with Bevo all but ruling out bringing in someone to replace Moz I’d say it won’t happen.

Still confident with the 22 and really looking forward to Naughton up fwd in the first few rounds, I reckon he could tear a few teams apart with building confidence and some better fwd 50 entries.

Hopefully no Franklin in their forward line. If he doesn't play we can handle the rest with our defense.
Report in the Canberra Times today suggests Franklin is a pretty good chance to play.

I am prepared to give him a chance I recall a lot of people wrote Crozier off in the early days, it sometimes takes players games to get into their groove at a new club.

Anything that comes out of Canberra is BS!

Seriously, I dont think they will risk him they think they have us covered but there in for a shock.

And they play at home on the Friday, their short week might work in our favour
