Round 1 Tips and why

yeah. That was last year. Now they go forward

I think there is further to go first. I think they will start to turn it around this season. But not for the first few rounds. Too many players have been turned over. It is going to take a while to sort it out. If Harvey goes ahead with Tarrant in the backline etc... (i dont think he will), then it will take even longer.

Essendon v Port Adelaide - PA hates TD. I hope this game is at TD, or Etihad or whatever the smeg it's called

You're taking the piss arent you?

You're taking the piss arent you?

Clearly. Port will win this and make the finals this year. They were clearly the most Tankingest team last year, and should be in the finals no probs. There is no way Port are as bad as they pretended last year. At least we didn't have to act bad or tank to be a poor side. :p

Carlton v Richmond - carlton have a much stronger lineup
Geelong v Hawthorn - geelong will go in confident from the nab win. and hawks are suffering with injurys.
Collingwood v Adelaide - Collingwood will be even more hungrier now from the dissappointing nab final.
St.Kilda v Sydney - who cares.
Brisbane v West Coast - west coast will continue their woes from last year. brisbane much too stronger and even faster
North v Melbourne - easy pickings here.
Essendon v Port -apparently have the wood...? its gonna be a closse one..
Freo v Bulldogs- 50<

Carlton v Richmond 30pt
Cats v hawks 30 pts
Pies v crows 30 pts
Saints v swans 22pt
Lions v wc 30 pts
roos v dees 60 pts
Ess v port 24 pts

You're taking the piss arent you?

I stand by my clearly totally serious round of tips
Bombers win round 1 matches

Carlton v Richmond 30pt
Cats v hawks 30 pts
Pies v crows 30 pts
Saints v swans 22pt
Lions v wc 30 pts
roos v dees 60 pts
Ess v port 24 pts
Freo v dogs 42 pts

But why Jezza?? WHHHYYYY????

carlton. just will have enough to get over the line
geelong. seeing the flag go up will be the motivation to smash the hawks
pies. they will be to good
saints. who cares, especialy if its anything like last years round 1 game
lions. at home and will be to strong
roos. dees still are a fair way away from being a strong contender
port. no reason why
bulldogs. i just cant tip freo any more

Carlton v Richmond - Carlton should have too much class for Richmond.
Geelong v Hawthorn - Cats should be able to atone for GF loss.
Collingwood v Adelaide - Pies should win comfortably at home.
St.Kilda v Sydney - *yawn* St.Kilda in a high quality game.
Brisbane v West Coast - Lions should be far too good for Eagles at Gabba.
Nth Melbourne v Melbourne - Roos should destroy the Demons here.
Port Adelaide v Essendon - Port mainly because of their good record against the Bombers.
Fremantle v Western Bulldogs - Bulldogs should get their season off to a good start with a win at Subiaco.

richmond v carlton - no real reasons, just gut feeling :)
hawthorn v geelong - cats still riding high from the nab cup win
collingwood v adelaide - pies should bounce back here and they seem to prefer the G...if it was at the dome i'd be tempted to go for the crows
brisbane v west coast - one of the upsets of the round, low scoring affair
st kilda v sydney - just
melbourne v nth melb - another first round upset
port adel v essendon - port should be too strong at home
fremantle v bulldogs - can't bring myself to tip the dockers.....yet

:thumbsu:

No. My opinion is Cooney won't get any beter and Griffen won't come on. Backline is questionable and they may struggle to kick goals. Look out for Jarryd Grant though... if he can learn to kick straight.

You are a tool mate. Please don't post about the dogs if you have no idea.
I want to know why you think Cooney wont improve as a player ? Is it because he is only 22 years old and has another 10 years of footy left in him or is it the fact he seems to tear the bombers a new one every time he plays them ?

Also I want to know why Griffen wont come on honestly I do ?

Why is our backline not good enough go on please. explain why fremantle's or the Bombers defense is better ?

also for the Record mate I dont rate Grant he wont be that kpp we are after.

Best of all hahahha you comment on who we will strugle to kick goals. Mate you have no idea because we have kicked the most goals in the league the only team near us is probebly Hawthorn and Geelong we might be third or so but we are defenetly up their.

:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Why would we struggle to kick goals??? We never struggle for goals these days. Even when we were crap under Peter Rohde we kicked goals. We didn't stop any, but we still kicked them ourselves

Yeah we don't have a great big forward, but we have plenty of guys who can kick a goal. Half our side can bob up with a few goals. Johnson, Welsh, Murphy, Aka, Gia, Cooney, Eagleton all love a goal. If Gilbee's anywhere near the 50 he's dangerous. Harbrow and Hill can kick a goal and will only get better. Even Willy can kick a goal or 2. Add Jarrod Grant and maybe Ayce and theres more options

Only Geelong have more goalkicking options than us. Kicking goals is the least of our problems

Are you posting from the future, Nostradamous? In 2008 we still managed to pump you on your home ground by 10 goals.

What on Earth has changed to affect the turnaround you assume likely?

You sound like North fans before round 1 against us last year.
Dominated us like no other for the past 6 years, thought it would be another cake walk and they ended up got flogged.

Port Adelaide are going to get demolished by Essendon sooner or later. Just the way life works. ;)

Carlton v Richmond
Geelong v Hawthorn
Collingwood v Adelaide
St.Kilda v Sydney
Brisbane v West Coast
Nth Melbourne v Melbourne
Port Adelaide v Essendon
Fremantle v Western Bulldogs

:thumbsu:

Carlton v Richmond - Bles by 10 points - Fev 8 goals.
Geelong v Hawthorn - Cats by 20 points - March skills.
Collingwood v Adelaide - Pies by 13 points - Pies to bounce back.
St.Kilda v Sydney - Saints by 2 points - anyones game.
Brisbane v West Coast - Lions by 11 points - Mids too good.
Nth Melbourne v Melbourne - Roos by 19 points - Hale 6 goals.
Port Adelaide v Essendon - Port by 55 - Port are flying this time of the year.
Fremantle v Western Bulldogs - Freo by 7 points. - close game, Pav the diff.

Richmond, I always tip us Round 1 :) It's 50/50 though.
Geelong because of Hawthorn's slow start to 2009. Could be a 5+ goal win.
Pies by over 5 goals.
St. Kilda should grind it out.
Lions because of home ground advantage.
Demons to start season off well with a close win against the Kanga's.
Port to thrash Bombers and be top after Round 1.
Doggies midfield will destroy Freo's. Will be a belting.

Carlton vs Richmond - Cousins factor, have looked slightly sharper in the pre-season
Geelong - Hawthorn - Geelong are dominant, Hawthorn are underdone
Collingwood - Adelaide - Collingwood are a very good team this year.
St Kilda - Sydney - My team obviously, but I also think the fact we desperately need to win every game will get through to the players and stop our slow starts
Brisbane - West Coast - West Coast will be on the improve, and Voss will be out-coached
North Melbourne - Melbourne - Melbourne are that bad. Give them a year though and they'll get better.
Port Adelaide - Essendon - For all this rubbish of stats, Essendon beat the reigning Premiers and Grand Final bound Sydney at the start of 06 and demolished two Finalist bound teams the years after, so they'll be able to do it again.
Fremantle - Western Bulldogs - Always been a sceptic of the Dogs, Freo at home with the advantage.

Carlton v Richmond - Richmond are no powerhouse, but should run rings around the worst team in the comp.
Geelong v Hawthorn - Geelong will be out for revenge, and will shiow what everyone knows - that Hawthorn didnt deserve a flag.
Collingwood v Adelaide - Adelaide too well drilled for a slow, untalented Pies team.
St.Kilda v Sydney - Worst game of the round, so I will just pick the home team.
Brisbane v West Coast - Another boring game, and will go with the Lionas at the GABBA.
North v Melbourne - Melbourne are a certainty in Round 1. Will run North off their feet, in what will be an 80+ point win.
Essendon v Port - Essendon open the season with a win thanks to Ports shocking skills.
Freo v Bulldogs - Another team that will start the season with a win, but finish bottom 4.

Why am I so always very different!!!

I'm on my own here so far.

Richmond 12pts (Close game pretty even)
Hawthorn 11pts (See above)
Collingwood 35pts (Pies too strong but still average)
Saint Kilda 2pts (5-5 35 - 5-3 33:p)
Brisbane 68pts (Way too strong for Coasters)
North 15pts (won't do it easy as everyone thinks)
Port Adelaide 108pts (A season to get over it, now its game on!)
Fremantle 1pt (Close one, and I have faith in the Dockers not to lose it in the last q

Richmond v Carlton at MCG should be a good game, both teams will improve, maybe the Blues to just get over the line

Hawthorn v Geelong at MCG Cats will rip the Hawks a new one, Cats in a big win

Collingwood v Adelaide at MCG Magpies will be too good for a slow disappointing Crows

Brisbane v West Coast at Gabba Lions have too many good players for the Eagles to match up on, Lions in a good win

St Kilda v Sydney at Etihad Stadium Swans to strangle the life out of the Saints in a dour defensive game

Melbourne v North Melbourne at MCG Kangaroos will be too strong for a learning Demons

Port Adelaide v Essendon at AAMI Stadium Power at home, too fast, too strong, too much talent, too bloody good for the Bombers

Fremantle v Western Bulldogs at Subiaco Bulldogs with have a solid away win with too many good players for an undermanned Dockers

In '08 the Bulldogs played well above themselves. It was a tight year where only 5 games separated 3rd to 11th. Western Bulldogs had experienced heads in a year of development for the majority of clubs and this allowed the experienced Bulldogs the opportunity to finish high up on the ladder. I feel there are teams that finished below the Bulldogs, Port Adelaide, Carlton, Collingwood and Richmond who will all finish above the Bulldogs in '09 because their midfields are all better than the Bulldogs.

It's the free flowing gamestyle that allows the Bulldogs to kick goals, with the rolling zone executed by most opposition clubs the same level of freedom will not be granted and teams will easily rebound from the Bulldogs forward line for lack of forward defensive players.

But in a thread a few weeks back most BF posters rated our midfield in the top 4 of the competition.

Geelong v Hawthorn - Geelong will be out for revenge, and will shiow what everyone knows - that Hawthorn didnt deserve a flag.
.

Good grief.

Get over it already.

I don't know why you are so bitter; your club couldn't be less involved in the flag discussion.
