Remember those interviews with ROB are private deals, not club sanctioned. So he isn’t worded up by anyone at the club, that’s why no club merch is worn.

Someone mentioned Bickley had Hinge not making it. I noticed in Leigh Montagna's team he also had Hinge out.

Leigh Montagna's round 1 team:

B: Worrell Murray Keane
HB: Laird Milera Michalanney
C: Peatling Dawson Cumming
HF: Keays Neal-Bullen Rachele
F: Walker Thilthorpe Fogarty
Fol: O'Brien Rankine Soligo
Int: Curtin Sholl Nankervis Crouch
Sub: Draper

I'd have Hinge in and Laird out.. the rest is good to go.

Lots on First Crack about the Crows:

  • Leigh M thought it was our time and went thru additions and compared to late season team last year (10 changes - all positive). We are primed. Saw us play Lions in the PS. Mentioned our hard draw last year. Expects a big season and to get off to a flyer. Kingy mentioned our midfield looked complete different
  • Kingy mentioned TT is beast like and could have said he was like no other player in the competition (semi distracted when he was speaking) in terms of body size. Could kick 50 this year as our go to man with better supply coming in
  • Someone else said Tex now third fiddle. Someone also mentioned it’s time for Rachele to shine (comparing him to the extraordinary earlier 5 picks in 2021) and should play permanently forward and kick 40. Someone mentioned winning first 4 also

All bullish. Surprised we are still not favoured to make finals with betting agencies (10th fave but flag odds have come in from 34 to 21)
I would be happy seeing Rachele end up being a pure SF now we have Rankine/Peatling/Dawson/Sog/Draper/Crouch as the core midfield group.

As a pure SF he can still be a forward half stoppage player. As Eddie was.

ANB/Keays/Rachele is a good SF/HF trio.

If Draper isn’t picked, I give up.

Read the fricken room, Nicks.

14 disposals in a half against Neale and co isn’t enough. Not even for the sub? Spare me.

Not even considering the fact that rolling out your prized pick in round 1 at home lifts the entire team and supporter base.

This club.
I understand that our team is very young and inexperienced at the moment, and that we have already cut massively into the senior playing list, but picking Sid this week seems a no brainer. On paper a winnable game at home with a huge excited crowd, what a perfect way to get confidence into a future star. Its also not like he hasn’t shown he can cope with the pace of AFL footy.

Same with Milera and Nankervis. Nank is clearly at the level and Junior is coming off no competitive footy for nearly 12 months. That’s a no brainer as well IMO.

You can see what will happen though. We have a good win without those 2 kids and the club smirks at getting selection correct. Yes but winning this week shouldn’t be the absolute priority, getting games and confidence into Curtin, Draper and Nankervis is just as important because all 3 are potential stars for this club long term.

When I saw his team last night and saw that all of Nankervis, Draper and Curtin were in the team I couldn't pick who wasn't. Hinge it was!

Draper will have to earn his spot. Then he'll eventually be given a game in a fwd pocket and when he doesnt get 20 touches or kick a goal he will be dropped the following week. we all know this is how Nixs operates.

Let's hope Balme and Davis can nip that shit in the bud early on!

When pressed about Dowling not getting MID minutes near his debut…

Adam Kelly said words to the effect of:
“Yeah we only look at one game at a time, we’re not worried about the future”

Speaks volumes of his and Nicks’ mindsets. The sooner both of them are gone the better.

Our team is so heavily structured in their units - defenders, midfielders, forwards.

Little silos working with their line coach.

All clubs are like this to a degree of course but I reckon we really buy in

A unicorn like Curtin is without a home.
He is a bit like Jack Lukosius.

So if Draper is going to debut will they announce it today?
A lot of other clubs have already announced if their debutants are getting a game, I fear we normally announce them on a Wednesday before selection on Thursday so I fear it's unlikely now which is incredibly disappointing

We play Sunday and our main training session starts in an hour's time. There's still time.
