B: Brown, Butts, Doedee
HB: Smith, Murray, Milera
C: Dawson, Laird, Seedsman
HF: McHenry, Fogarty, Schoenberg
F: McAdam, Thilthorpe, Gollant
R: ROB, Keays, Crouch
I/C: Sloane, Jones, Cook, Berry

Dawson and Seed on opposite wings 🤤
Suddenly the side has some weapons.

Jones Butts Doedee
Smith Murray Milera?
Seedsman Laird Dawson
Sloane Thilthorpe Cook
McAdam Fogarty Gollant

ROB Schoenberg Keays

Berry McHenry Crouch Hinge/Pick 4(Callaghan)?

Milera is a watch. If his body isn't ready I would move Jones to half back and Brown to back pocket. Brown would likely be fighting for that spot with McPherson.

I'll update mine as well.

B: Brown - Butts - Doedee
HB: Smith - Murray - Jones
C: Seedsman - Keays - Dawson
HF: McHenry - Thilthorpe - Schoenberg
F: Cook - Fogarty - Gollant
R: ROB - Crouch - Laird
INT: Berry - Worrell - Sholl - Sloane

I'm not liking the lack of Pedlar or the lack of small forwards, but I really can't think of anyone I'd drop with Crouch staying and Dawson coming aboard.

No Milera either.

Nope, I'd rather Sholl for that last outside spot. Better player, and likely has a higher ceiling than Milera.
Right now though ?? I'd have Milera every day of the week.

We rated Milera enough to give him a 5 year deal, if he's fit enough he'll play. Probably instead of Worrell. Can see Pedlar playing ahead of Berry too.

Yup, right now. Whilst we rated Milera at the time we signed him, we did so when our outside/defensive talent stocks were low, and since then he has suffered multiple LTIs. It's not exactly common players return after 2 years off and we're looking like we're well on the way to being rich with outside talent now.

With our outside stocks, Sholl is ahead of Milera being younger with a similar form line and really it's a toss up between him and Jones. For me Chayce gets the nod, but that's only because he's the incumbent and I'm more curious in him as a prospect.

Worrell I have replacing Kelly, though indirectly with Doedee being the actual replacement and Worrell playing as a third tall. I also can't see Pedlar replacing Berry, seeing we stuck with Berry for the vast majority of last year. Pedar will inevitably find his way into our best 22, but I suspect he'll need to terrorize the 2nds first.

That said, I think we're firmly at the point now that some talented kids aren't going to break through.

Can't agree re Sholl, and IMO he's a more limited player.

The rest of it I do though

If the injury list is minimal, there are going to be a number of guys pretty stiff to miss a spot. None of the guys marked with ** are walk up starts for Rd 1 - all the guys listed in my emergencies are putting pressure on them (apart from Strachan who will only ever replace one of Thilthorpe or ROB if there’s a big form drop or injury).

Things are looking up. Nail the 2021 and 2022 drafts, bring in Rankine or Luko next year via trade, and we will be a genuine finals contender in 2023 with a bit of injury luck and natural progression.

Milera just lost an entire season to a career threatening knee injury, after missing almost the entire season before that to a foot injury, and is barely back running now - he shouldn't be anywhere near the AFL in round 1. He needs at least half a season of SANFL to remember how to play again, and find out if he still can.

If he's doing full training post Christmas then there's no reason why he shouldn't be playing round one imo.

Big if though given his run over the past few seasons.

It will come down to how much confidence he has in his body and how that translates to early form in pre-season games

Hately also needs to be on the watch list....

Had significant hip and grion issues this season which impacted his running and kicking.....

Burgess coming in will be important and I'm yet to put the red line through Hately as he was playing under significant duress

Im still keen to see what he can do if he gets his body right
