That's a fair point, but, the board and former CEOs have received their credit for this, going back to Liddle iirc. He received credit for stabilising and strengthening us financially, but once that was done it was time to move on as football was lacking.I do see criticism around here that the Board prioritise business over football. I don’t know whether or not there is truth in the accusation. But I will say a modern football club board does need to be across business. We are now a million miles stronger financially than we were twenty years ago.
How much of a tick the board should get for that is another matter. But I do think they deserve some credit here. Put it this way. If Voss is sacked tomorrow, we can afford to pay him out.

Don’t get me wrong. The ideal is to do well at football and business. But I think the way the business side of things is being discounted around here is a little over the top. That's a fair point, but, the board and former CEOs have received their credit for this, going back to Liddle iirc. The issue is since then the football has gone nowhere and we're (seemingly) back to square one. We understood years ago Carlton as a business is doing great, but Carlton the football club has been stagnant. We've been asking for the football to get the same love but instead it seems the board are still more interested in the business aspects of being on the board.
Football should be the no.1 priority and I think, fairly, the board is having its motivations questioned on that. Making an investment banker that lives in Sydney the new president does absolutely nothing to help that perception.
The #1 aim for football clubs is football. The business side got its dues 5 years ago, it's time for the on-field to match. It isn't, so doubling down on business is not what fans & paying members want, yet it's what the board (seemingly) do.Don’t get me wrong. The ideal is to do well at football and business. Oh yes, we all want success. But people forget off field success can and does lead to onfield success. Again, I think the efforts of the board are too easily discounted around here on the business side of things. In fact, you could argue off field success is more difficult when onfield success hasn’t been achieved. The #1 aim for football clubs is football. So if Fitzy is interested in the job, if he puts up a ticket I'm sure he'd get enough signatures from us members for a board spill. Hence not believing Caro here. It's time some decent Carlton people take the club back. Where is Maximus when you need him?Members put in a vote of no confidence? Or something like that maybe.![]()
What don’t you believe?Hence not believing Caro here.
Chinese whispers for the show. What don’t you believe?
Oh, ok.Chinese whispers for the show.
Not sure why the board would be that against someone talking to Fitzpatrick when we still hadn't decided on a replacement, just to sound him out.
I know our board isn't the best, but don't think they're that low that they'd force someone out for talking to a former club legend who also held high roles in the AFL.
My tea leaves think, Fitzy was sounded out, was interested and when he heard Priestly was going for the role he didn't want to cause any destabilization so stepped aside, we weren't 0-4 at that point, had some optimism with the season ahead with only Sayers incident the bad taste during off-season.Oh, ok.
Well I got that from a good source last week.
It wasn’t that. He got knifed.Lincoln probably stepping aside due to personal reasons which may be he doesn't agree with the current make up of the board
CHB is the least of our problems. If nobody has recognised that we have a major structural deficiency at CHB and have since 2022 then they shouldn't be anywhere near the joint.
Maybe JSOS can redeem this.
Fitzpatrick ran the AFL, never fails, extremely tough and knows how to galvanise teams. See his record in academia, sport, adiministration and commerce.
Dog Brown would kick heads rather than acting like he is kicked in the head like diesel. Successful developer
Serious question, what's he done to us in the last couple of month that "he is detested by the majority of the supporter base".I wonder if Robert Priestly realises he is detested by the majority of the supporter base.

Exactly, Robert Priestly has hidden under a desk in Sydney and done nothing...oh except he sent an email, an hour before last week's game, announcing 2 more unelected corporate board appointmentsSerious question, what's he done to us in the last couple of month that "he is detested by the majority of the supporter base".

Another unelected President with no football feel or experience. You can't be President and live in SydneySo how is he 'detested by the majority of the supporter base' - your words Michael!
BTW he was pictured in the rooms after the Collingwood game which was in Melbourne!
