Tbh we were really lucky to be two goals up. Bombers screwed their chances all night, you could tell they were eventually going to get it right. In the end we mostly gave it to them.

Did Rioli have nobody to kick to when he decided to run into 50? We had control at that point.

Their last entry into 50 was so slow I just can’t believe they scored.

Our senior players let us down big time tonight and I thought the same as you regarding Rioli taking 3 bounces and kicking to no one.
The only players who played great for us tonight were Vlastuin, Broad, Martin & Bolton. The rest were bog average.

But hey let our supporters (posters on here) just bag the kids out for that loss because it's easier that way.

Agree with everything except Ross, TI. I thought he was one of our best tonight. Yeah, he's not fast, but he can win the ball, is tough, and is now using the ball consistently well.

I think Ralphsmith can be dropped instead of Ross. He's got pace but not much else.

Season over. There is a development issue at the club, apart from Ryan (who wasn't effective tonight) none of the younger players have improved, some have even gone backwards. Totally winnable game but although it wasn't just one player's faults there are few notable mentions. McIntosh in 2 minutes miskicked badly, didn't stand the mark and let Stringer kick a goal that could have been made much more difficult to pull off. I'm happy for him not to be seen in a Richmond guernsey again, had enough of poor kicking and gets nowhere near enough disposals to warrant a place in the side. Mansell kicked a couple of goals but he also made some poor decision making errors, his pressure is good but if he can't muster enough composure to at least kick a point from 30 m out then I doubt he's going to be a long-term prospect. Riewoldt simply cannot execute the basics consistently and is more of a liability than asset but I've watched most of the VFL matches this year and there isn't anything there that would me any more effective. With the record number of close losses over the last few years the conditioning staff need to be held accountable, even so prevention of some of the errors and the inexcusable bombing into a F50 where I think there might have been 1 contestable mark is something that should have been addressed and could have resulted in a win tonight.

The season was over whether we won or lost. It's clear we aren't a top 8 team, our last 3 opponents were decimated with injury and still look poor. Even Sydney had half their side out and smashed us. We can get up for a big game like Melbourne or Geelong, but that will be once or twice a month at most. Port will do us by 40+ next week with their young midfield.

he literally could have jumped onto the ball, laid down on it, shown no desire to dispose of it and given away a holding the ball free kick

Our skill level is so bad that the only real way we put on a winning score is when we essentially walk it into goal via running in waves. Threading a needle to a leading forward is never going to happen with this group because we don't have the calibre of players required. Nor is the high possession game because the more possesions we have the more likely we are to turn it over. So in a nutshell we just have the one strategy and if we can't execute we lose.

True, however they didn’t even try and get it going tonight. They just let Essendon play their soft uncontested game plan and it was frustrating.

Nankervis is a liability in the FL. Ryan needs a rest and he’s got be able to hold a mark anywhere on the ground and hold his feet in the ruck. Draper made a mess of him tonight.
