The drafting of Armstrong, Trainor, Faull and sims has addressed that though.
Whether they are it or not is not the issue. The fact is the club has addressed it.
Midfield I give you. But wait until our draft this year to make big assumptions.

I don’t think I’m making assumptions. I’m giving a realistic appraisal of a team that won last year’s wooden spoon and will go close again this year. Time will tell whether our recruits are any good.

I was a bit hopeful about Maurice after watching last week on TV

But I was at the game tonight and . . . yeah, I’m pretty worried that junior isn’t going to make it

I desperately want him to make it, but . . .

I think maybe it is his short stature that is going against him. He’s half the size of half the other blokes out there and it seems like he needs to take twice as many steps to close down space . . .
So a role where small size is an advantage and he doesn’t need to take too many steps would suit his strengths?

Play Maurice in the guts. No jokes please.

If you’re small, you need exceptional skills and decision making and he’s got neither

The “I’m a realist” bit is old. Pretty easy to see basically everything you posted from 09-12, in search link below, is the same shit as your clogging up this thread with.

Who really gives a flying **** what anyone thought in 2010? One period of being crap that turned into a handful of flags doesn’t mean that every period of being crap will turn into a flag. More times than not, over the last 40-odd years, being crap hasn’t led us anywhere.
Since 1985 teams with the most flags...

Hawks 8
Lions 4
Cats 4
Eagles 4
Tigers 3
Pies 3

Plenty of teams have been more successful in winning more games than we have over the past 40 years but only Hawthorn has been able to convert that success into a heap of flags in that time. That we are on this list is pretty remarkable despite what you're saying.

There is also nothing to say that just because we aren't doing well now means it's going to be another 37 year wait until the next flag.

Given the enormous number of changes at the RFC over the last couple of years I'm not sure what you are expecting??

We have won 2 games already this season in 6 games when people were saying we'd be likely winless.

We lost by 20 tonight. We didn't lose by 80. No one on the Melbourne board is overly happy with tonight's result. They would have been hoping for a huge win, didn't happen.

sucks because Armstrong is injured would love to see Lynch Jonty and Armstrong... OR did gold coast prove last week you cant run 3 talls?

Not having a crack at you Coach, but I do wonder how many people pay attention to the off the ball stuff that Maurice does. He is playing a sacrificial role where he runs himself ragged with a lot of unrewarded running but gets crucified for the lack of statistics. I understand the angst I just think it's a bit misguided at times and IMO a lot of it has to do with his name. If he was called John Smith, I doubt he'd cop the same.amount of criticism that he does
Watch the first half last week and all this game again and see what MRJ does when he is either simply involved in a play or even worse when he attempts to handle the ball. Pressure is irrelevant when the downside is so palpable. Dan Butler had similar “attributes” in that he panicked. But he was a much better player and still is when not injured. We can’t afford a player with no skills. It demoralises the others.

What was most frustrating about last night is that Melbourne aren't good and when we had dominance we stuffed it up.
A game we could have easily won.

Another thing has anyone noticed how easily we let teams switch the play? I understand protecting the corridor but you still gotta put some forward pressure on.

Poor defense & bad quarters is theme thing year, I guess it's the rebuild but it's still frustrating Dees aren't good side they are bottom 4 team imo.

I was going to suggest Ross out for someone (Smillie/Sonsie) and then saw his possessions. Think you are right though, little impact for that number, but then doubt he gets dropped after getting it 24 times.
Poor game from Maurice, (don't know what that free against him was for), but I'm guessing he gets 1 bad game after he played well against the Suns and won't be dropped.
Mansell Seth and green were all 500% worse than Ross

Sure, Clarkson’s in year three (after mssing half of year one on stress leave) but the point’s the same: Both clubs are currently nowheresville
To think that both clubs are in the same situation is absolutely ******ed. North have been bad for a long time and still look like they're a few years off actually putting anything together. We have just started our rebuild and the signs on the field are already looking better.

The dumbos didn't do a review when miller told them he touched the ball, the campaigners, it was as clear as day from where I was sitting
haha on the arc turnaround though some justice
Thought at the time when they did check it out that it seems the footage when it's an opposition's goal against us is like it's being transmitted from an Elon Musk satellite.

Absolutely terrible quality images and angles, not fit for purpose. In comparison we score a goal and they seem to find close up pixilated footage of a defender seemingly breaking his fingernail as he apparently touches the ball.

The CFL really need to head to a Jaycar store and upgrade their pathetic prehistoric equipment with some decent technology because as it stands it's quite comical to watch and for the most part I think the ARC guy just guesses.

Some posters are like the media. Everything is based on the most recent game and previous games are forgotten. Let’s wait for an appropriate body of work before potting the progress and coach. As for mrj - one bad game but gee he did go back to being the player who we prefer without the ball than with it.

It’s unrealistic to expect the recruits to perform perfectly every game. Having seen enough from those already playing at AFL level, I believe the trainor and Lalor will be guns. Armstrong demonstrated his potential before his injury. In a development year, it’s important to take small positives from each game.

There's the problem lol.

No, he gets crucified because he butchers the ball on the rare occasions when he gets it. His skills and decision making are atrocious. And for his much vaunted tackling pressure, he had one tackle last night.
a lot of it has to do with his name. If he was called John Smith, I doubt he'd cop the same.amount of criticism that he does
If he was called John Smith, I doubt very much he'd be gifted games as he is. Nor would he be brought into the side on the back of a two - count 'em - TWO possession game in the VFL if his name was Kaleb Smith. Sorry, I meant John Smith.

And have you just landed in BigFooty or something? Players with all sorts of names cop criticism in here. We don't play favourites. Anyone is fair game. He should he dropped and made to earn a recall.

And hopefully he takes Short with him, who is an even bigger liability.
