VFL Richmond VFL v Australia U18, Sunday April 13, 1:30pm AEST, RSEA Park

Did Sharp look like he was trying? Saw a few SA comments saying he was basically walking around half assed.

Not to me. Didn't seem to get out of a jog. Probably some shenanigans going on with the SA clubs and him

Was pretty warm and a bit of a breeze on the day but as others have said not too many standouts. Wonder if we could trade our picks into next year to set ourselves for a Reid trade or more cracks at getting Cochrane. Thought Ludowyke was pretty good considering both Balta and Gray were playing. At the ground it was very noticeable how vocal Balta was, always instructing and encouraging. Not sure it was always the right advice though lol. Balta looked strong and powerful but a bit rusty at times dropped some marks, soft drops and a few ground ball fumbles. Josh Paterson looked good and would fill a need for us with some ball use and evasiveness of half back but he is tied to the gold coast academy

I reckon Hopper and Taranto would look a lot better if surrounded with some outside class, pace and spread to work alongside. Hopefully by mid season we have Smillie and KMac2 in there, and Taranto can spend some minutes up forward rotating with Lalor. I suspect (hope!) it'll play better to the strengths of those two, and our midfield balance will just look a lot better ovarall... 🤞
I just dont think we have outside class and pace on our list though? Definitely not what Smillie or Lalor have been known for. Hotton could be that player but hes a while off still

He looked about as committed as he did in the futures game last year. I.e. not at all.

To be honest there felt like a lot of going through the motions for both teams.

Yep, definitely a gap in our list that needs attention this off-season. And really hope Hotton recovers 100% and can play a role. In the meantime I'd still love to see us try something to inject some pace around the ball. Mcauliffe probably the only true mid with a bit of breakaway speed. Beyond that would be an experiment with guys like Campbell, Mansell, Green or even MRJ for a few minutes here and there! Not sure we have the appetite to go there, though.

havent gotten around to watching it but yeah, apparently we have met him for MSD potential

Essendon and Richmond vfl players, name a more iconic duo.

Honestly, makes more sense for you guys than us. He’s ready to go now, real burst of speed and strength in tackles at VFL level, just like everyone else on Sunday just went through the motions.

how did McCarthy go from the VFL tigers?

Don't see it with him. Reckon he's a good VFL trier. Also the age thing for me at 25 in a few months I don't see the upside. Raso is 19 years old next week.

Both him and Raso were down on output. Raso still did a few classy things and McCarthy was quite scrappy with his disposal.

Im not sure but knowing the president of Highett FC, says Tom is one of the most diligent young men. His development when he started taking football more seriously 18 - 20 months ago has been astronomical.

With Essendon, McCarthy as a wing/HBF makes sense, run, carry is something we could use more of. Wouldn't surprise me if he is taken early by you guys though.
