I think he will be out with a point to prove this year and he will be at his best...and then towards the end of the year he will be back to himself and you will hardly notice he's playing.

Yeah, the interesting thing with Hooper is that the "not showing up to training" stuff takes a lot of attention away from the fact that he is just a terribly inconsistent player.

His best is pretty good, but when he is at his worst, I have never seen a player become so invisible... a ghost.

We saw too much of the latter over the last couple of years.

I agree... except for the first part.

Don't agree with any of this bagging stuff.

The guy is gone. He had his chance here [in fact, quite a few chances] and blew it. Picked up by another club.

End of.

I think a lot of the comments stem from the disappointment of picking up a virtual unknown local with a third round selection - seeing him look like he could be anything and then how it finished up.

It is with me anyhow.

I think is also frustrating as supporters to see because he does have talent, it is there but we just couldn't extract it from him. A crumbing forward is a kind of player we really need as well, which only made it worse.

hahah. Can't wait.

I got a bit of info, but after that hotcopper defamation case, private board or not, I'm now a bit dubious about reporting it.

Most - stupid shenanigans which would have me questioning his commitment.

There were some other stuff I heard which I yeaaaah.... Good luck hawks.

Hope he plays at Southport next week.

I'll jeer every touch of the ball he gets... yes all 5 of them.

5 touches....wishful thinking....

Really disappointed Hooper didn't end up producing what he was capable of. Clearly a talented player, but just not disciplined enough to be playing at the highest level. I wish him all the best at Hawthorn

Re: Rhan Hooper

Some rumour going on that he has been delisted - poor bugger if true.

I think there was a tweet regarding this. If true a lot of the blame should fall on his own shoulders. Never worked hard enough.

Completely agree, another player with the attributes and talent that has thrown it away due to his attitude and failure to put in the hard yards.

Will be interesting if the Suns give him one last shot. Unlikely, but does fill a hole, although I would think the Suns would not want influences such as Hooper around many impressionable young boys.

Everything I've heard has said that Hooper has done the work this year, but that his hamstrings are utterly gone, which may be the reason for his delisting if true. He just couldn't get on the park but he seems to have tried to make the most of his second opportunity.

Fifth opportunity more like it.

Had his second, third and fourth at Brisbane.

Voss even cancelled his own Xmas holiday to train with him.

It is probably relative anyway, but contrary to my understanding, this article states that it was Hooper who quit the Hawks:

HAWTHORN forward Rhan Hooper has quit the club to return home to Queensland.

I would think he has proven that he does not have the committment, but will be interesting if he bobs up at the Suns.

AFL legend Leigh Matthews has answered an SOS call to help troubled former Brisbane Lions player Rhan Hooper. Hooper, 22, left Hawthorn last week after one year with the Hawks, citing his desire to return to Queensland to start a family.
But it is understood the door has not completely shut on the Hawks, where Hooper has enjoyed his football.
Matthews met the player for an hour on Thursday to discuss a range of football issues as well as life outside the AFL bubble. Matthews's advice was simple.
"I can sum up what I said to him in one line: Before you do anything, think of the consequences," he said.

I am amazed at the time people are putting / have put into Rhan. There are so many blokes who are desperate to play this great game and yet so much time is being wasted on Hooper. It's simple: he's not up to the demands of professional sport. It's nothing against him as a person (the time I met him he seemed lovely), it's just a fact.
