He’d have been one of at least 1000 guilty of it on the day/night, so either the cop was a massive Freo fan (unlikely) or he was stupid enough to do it right in front of a cop and then proceeded to be a dick about it afterwards (very likely)

Why would providing your name preclude you from being charged? If the charge is so tenuous that it isn't prosecuted based on providing your name, why bother pulling anyone up on it in the first place?
