“I’m all in”: Hutchison makes 2025 AFL premiership and Coleman prediction

SEN’s Craig Hutchison is picking Fremantle to win the 2025 AFL premiership.
The Dockers finished 10th in the 2024 season but were third as late as Round 20 before losing the last four games of the campaign.

Hutchison expects the Dockers to again be featuring near the pointy end of the home and away season before finishing strong and carrying that all the way through the finals come September.
He’s also picking Josh Treacy to win the Coleman after the 22-year-old kicked an impressed 45 goals across 20 games last season.
“I have a firm view on this, Fremantle is my tip for the flag. I'm all in, they'll finally get the flag they need,” Hutchison said on SEN WA The Run Home.
“They’ve got to get ruthless and relentless on winning this thing - get a little bit less pleasant and a little more hard-nosed with a bit of swagger I reckon.
“This is what I would point to, the last four games that they lost we're only by about 40-odd points in collective and they didn't have Josh Treacy, who is my tip for the Coleman medal next year.
“They also didn't have Alex Pearce (late in the season) - I spent some time with him recently in Melbourne and you can see the hunger they have in the camp … they also didn’t have Sean Darcy come back (in the last three games), so there were three talls missing.
“They add a couple of pieces including Shai Bolton, so I like them a lot.”

Fremantle begin their 2025 season with a Round 1 clash against Geelong at GMHBA Stadium on Saturday, March 15.

The only thing that worries me is that Young has had an interrupted pre season so far. It's all fine, even teams with good injury runs still have at least one. But I won't expect him to improve on last season initially.

I think experience in the role will mean improvement. Is he expected to be in full training once they are back from the Christmas break? If he can do that I don't think he will be too far off the pace. I hope...

Geelong are seen as serious contenders again and their home ground is a fortress. But it is also a ground etched in our own history.

On the list of things we must do in the new season, early season form must be up there.

I want a reprise of anywhere, anytime. No excuses.

Darcy in piledriver mode would set the scene. He's really getting himself prepped for a big year.

Lets write some more history.

I definitely prefer a tough match round one, feel like the team relax playing poor opposition in the first game or two.

Coaches will be able to travel and scout any game plan changes the cats have in opening round too, hopefully offsets the cats being a touch more match ready.
