Prediction Rank these current players at the end of their careers

The very top tier is Ricciuto, McLeod:

Thilthorpe and Rankine could make this.

The next tier is Hart, Goodwin, Rehn, Modra, Jarman:

Walker has probably done enough in the latter half of his career to get here. Dawson will be.

The next tier is Thompson, Edwards, Sloane, Talia, Dangerfield etc.

I think that is where Soligo, Michaelanney and Fogarty are heading. Perhaps Rachele and Curtin. I think Laird sits in this group already.

Unsure about Draper, but he has the speed and attributes to climb high in rankings. Murray and Worrell have began their careers well enough to suggest they could be all-time key defenders if they maintain their trajectory and have long careers in successful teams.

I’m assuming Danger is in that tier due to limited time spent with us?

This is a good way to look at it, I think. Though I'd have Dangerfield in the Hart/Goodwin etc. tier.

Tier 1: Thilthorpe
Tier 2: Rankine, Walker, Dawson, Rachele
Tier 3: Soligo, Michalanney, Fogarty

Too early to say for Curtin and Draper but at a guess I'd say maybe Draper in tier 3 and Curtin doesn't end up in this list. He could be anything but he's also the most likely of the 10 to not really end up as a top tier player.

At current time? -- denotes tiers

1. Riley Thilthorpe
2. Izak Rankine

3. Jake Soligo
4. Sid Draper
5. Jordan Dawson
6. Tex Walker
7. Josh Rachele

8. Max Michaelanney
9. Darcy Fogarty

10. Dan Curtin

1 and 2 write themselves, as they are the two with the best shot of joining the McLeod/Roo/Goodwin/Modra/Betts tier, and we probably need them to if this group is to jag a premiership. I have Thilthorpe 1 as I do just reckon he'll be definitive KPF in the next decade, whereas I doubt Rankine will end up definitive, owing to a strong era for forward/mids.

Soligo as three, well set to be an A grade midfielder here for a decade, and probably ends up in that Sloane/Edwards/Laird tier of footballer here. Sid, ditto. I'll go for Dawson just shading Tex, but most of that shading is I'm decently confident in our list, and Daws may get that sustained run at leading a finalist that Tex didn't. Rachele at 7 is I think he'll have the space to be a top tier small forward, but this is Rankines show. That said, Rachele gets a bump up due to Rankine likely getting a lot of midfield time.

8/9 are Michaelanny and Fogarty, two players who are set to have respectable to good careers, but are likely going to get outshone by others. The Hinge, Porplyzia, Welsh, Smith kind of tier.

10 is Curtin just because he's a wildcard at this point. Could easily be a delist in 2-3 years or have his career wasted as a third tall, however, there is still time for him to rocket up this board and find himself in the Dawson/Tex tier. Come back next year.

I think this a well thought out post excluding one glaring - ridiculous? - comment

Curtin could easily be a delist in 2/3 years!

He hasn’t done a lot yet - but still puts him above a third of players on an AFL list. This is akin to those people who thought Fog was a delist or Rankine was a terrible deal for us
85% of very good footballers just require time.
Thilthorpe is in his 4th year, Fog started to break out in his 4th year
Has already shown some high quality traits. Will just take time

The mistake was I should have said 4 years, not 2-3, seeing he'll get 6 years to show something (like Jones). However, it comes from Curtin sitting on the precipice, as he's in a role that could disappear if Adelaide starts losing or with one more offseason + being a 7th forward role can be a career killer. This year is all about keeping his head above water, hope we keep winning (as that will prevent any need for tactical changes), no other prospect starts destroying the SANFL, and can win a more permanent position when it finally comes up, as it's unlikely we'll run a fourth tall next year.

Most footballers require time, however they create that time for themselves. It's about locking down a best 22 role they can hold down for a couple of years. Right now, Curtin is not in that situation (he is the 22nd selected player), and there is a pretty large graveyard of AFL careers where they made a hot start and got filtered out as the list developed. Heck, our list has a few examples of even hotter starts petering out to nothing. One other thing to note here is the state of our list, as you could mention someone like Fogarty, but Fog (and Adelaide) had the time to stuff up as the quality of Adelaide's list was low, Curtin hopefully won't have the same luxury.

Games like the Essendon one are a good start and I expect Curtin to get through this period to lock down something better. However, it was a rating reflecting where we are today, hence that comment and the "come back next year" one.
