Out: Lyons, Mackay
In: B. Crouch, Menzel

B. Crouch should come straight back in. Mackay was bad and we won't move forward with him in the team.

Laird was also terrible but his previous performances give him a pass. Brown and Cheney weren't great either but I'd have to confirm who cost goals before I call to drop them. And as we know, the umpires cost us a ton of goals.

Also:

Out: Matthew 'Human Garbage' Nicholls
In: Any Decent Human Being

Out: Cheney, Lyons
In: Henderson, Crouch

Cheney too slow or too small, goes hard but just not good enough. Seedsman to HBF, Henderson to wing.

Lyons: 3rd quarter dropped the ball in the centre which would have been a clear goal, didn't go for the mark when he kicked his second goal and was lucky the ball got over the back, called for Atkins to make a 70m kick over the back in the 3rd instead of leading into space, Jenkins bought the ball to ground from Seedsmans long bomb in the last - 2 Hawks fly (one is Lyons opponent) but Lyons is completely on the back foot.
None of this is particularly criticism of Lyons as a player - he looked confident and clean as a midfielder. But he doesn't have forwards instincts, and should not be selected if he's going to play 70% forward pocket/HFF. We have better options (Knight, Menzel as forwards; Crouch as mid).

The issue we have is we don't seem to be able to use Laird, Smith or even Brown on the opposition's better small/medium forwards.

Therefore Cheney ends up on them, even though we know he'll lose at ground level. The others lose on the ground and in the air, so with Cheney we at least have one base covered I guess. Not ideal.

Smith is a terrible one on one defender. Would rather Cheney on a small forward than Smith.

Case in point: Smith panics and gets Puopolo in the back, gifting him a free kick to win the game for the Hawks

I cannot believe I am saying this, but no Mackay should not go, he went when it was his turn tonight, and yes he did fumble at times, but that is because he was in the heat of the play, charging in. Unlike a couple of others who were fumbling under little pressure as if their lives depended on it.

Unchanged.

Laird, Smith and Cheney were all utter shit, but you can't drop Laird or Smith, and there's nobody to replace Cheney other than he who we do not speak of.

I don't believe B Crouch should be thrown straight back in so I'd give him a game in the SANFL.

I think Cheney is the one who's probably most under the pump to hold his spot.

Don't see it. Mackay looked like he found the pace too fast, I thought he was exposed tonight.

Looked awful in contests as I said in the other thread. He was unaccountable and brushed aside easily like he always is. I'm not sure how he got 23 disposals, I'd be interested to see his meters gained. And 10 tackles? I'm pretty sure a fair few of those were the 'pile on' style were multiple people tackle a single opponent.

He wasn't terrible like Laird, but he isn't up to the standard we need to play to win finals. Simple as that.

I feel like bringing in hendo changes our team dynamic a little too much. I prefer our other wingers and our current defenders over him. You could argue him for Mackay, but Mackay has moved inside more and so taking him out would stretch out midfield rotations.

Maybe I need to watch the replay, but why so much hate for Cheney. Yes, he got out-paced and out manoeuvred by Puopolo for one goal, but Poppy made each and every one of our defenders look bad tonight at some stage. I actually though Cheney was solid down back, and looked more composed and used the ball more effectively than pretty much anyone else back there... I concede I could be badly mistaken, but what howlers am I missing/not remembering.

Because Cheney is an easy whipping target for this board.

Don't worry it's stock standard on here
