Autopsy R14, 2017: Swans vs Bombers

- Naismith and Sinclair are a little too non-competitive in the air, Naismith offers other things so he's in no danger of losing his spot but we have no aerial presence (in terms of at least creating a contest) outside of Reid and Franklin. 3 marks between our rucks tonight, Bellchambers had more by himself....so many times tonight when exiting the defence we had no aerial presence when we kick to contests unless Reid had pushed up or an undersized bloke like Heeney/Parker flew.
Sinclair has been 'better' by own standards but Tippett would be bashed to hell on here if he put up that Sinclair performance, anyway Tippett must be due for his good half-season soon! He always has a good half of a season, and maybe this time it'll come at the right time of year? I want them to make sure that ankle is 100% right though, he's shown he will play through injury if asked but he also doesn't handle playing with injury very well.

- Reid 1.3, Franklin 0.6 need to seriously practice their goal kicking, gone to shit since the bye (especially at the SCG), positive I guess is they are both working well together and having so many shots, especially against some decent Essendon key backs...but they both look shot for confidence on the set shots you can see it all over their faces. Buddy passing off a 45m shot to Jack barely within range could've been very, very costly. He needs to take those shots, it's why he's on the $$$.

- In reflection Grundy was great, seems to have gotten back to his form of the last few years and the brain fades from early in the season (which also frequented his game earlier in his career) are gone again.

- Towers like Sinclair has been better lately but really Dawson/Edwards are banging the door down and at worst surely they'd offer the same and we wouldn't lose anything. Both possess decent foot-skills and tonight showed that should be a premium, we have room to squeeze at least one in and if they can help our field kicking they should be in, or at least tried..

GotTheGoodes already said the way I said it was out of line mate. Not even going to quote your post because it doesn't need to appear on BF for a third time. Things said in the heat of the moment can be mistakes. Already copped to that so if you'd like to discuss the points of the original post without shaming, i'd be happy to. Otherwise let's just enjoy the win mate

Just got home and watched the last two minutes...I really don't know how we did that considering how little time was left. Couldn't tell how many seconds were left at the ground. Wow.
I was messaging my mate asking how long left and when we got that last behind I messaged if there was enough time for an attack. The rest, as they say, is history. Hard to tell how long left at the ground.

Ive seen quite a few poster bag out his game tonight. I feel like I must have been watching a different game.
Was very good tonight, thought prior to the game a dozen possessions and some score involvements would be a good outcome for him. Surprised to see he was rated our second best player. Must've had far more of an impact than I realised.

Parkers last quarter lol

Reid and jack shite too
Jeez... No rest for the wicked heh?

God forbid someone would be the worst of the bunch... Who would've thought out of a list of players that there would be a few who where rated by someone else who the board could lay into?

It's as if every week there's a half dozen blokes you can continually get stuck into based on some stats not being "good enough".

Anyway, each to thier own. Hope you enjoy the win however you like mate... I mean no harm or offence. :thumbsu:

Held on in a close one. Should of been up by a lot more but showed great character to dig our way out. Impressed by some of our kids, big time.

In the 8 (temporarily)... wooo!! :D

What's with Hayward taking those strangely spectacular grabs. He has been great and has some mongrel for a feather weight.
Great footy brain. Has a natural ability to outsmart, outmaneuver, and outposition his opponent.

Yeah you can never tell, pretty unbelievable watching the last couple of minutes.

Hazy has far exceeded expectations.

Said the same thing about Mills.
Said the same thing about Heenz.
Said the same thing about Hanners.
Said the same thing about ROK.
Said the same thing about Goodes.

... I love the first few games from him thus far. Hopefully he keeps it up!

I can do without the so called insight. When have players ever given any insight in post match interviews.

Furthermore they had three on field post match interviews plus one in the sheds all of which told us nothing.
"The boys knew we needed to work hard, but credit, We just got out there and gave 110%..." ****, life changing insight there.

Did we water the ground
If we did I'll be hunting someone down. All that slipping over and he goals it cost sent me near mental.
At one point was seriously considering buying a nail gun and volunteer to fix their boots on the sideline.

Suggestion that the SCG was watered to advantage the Swans if that was the case then surely they would have known in advance to wear the right boots. The amount of times a Swan slipped over was boiling my blood. Was costly at times.

They should have just watered the opposition end of the ground eh?

Great win just a few thoughts i had while watching:

- Dont think Haywood will ever celebrate a goal like that again

- Josh Kennedy is absolutely unbelievable. Ill put my hand up and questioned whether he was the right choice for captain after the first 6 rounds. Just another example of how much i know (sweet FA).

- Parker is working his way back into form.

- Bud was pretty poor tbh. But I love the fact that after achieving pretty much everything you can in the sport (premierships, Colemans, AA's) and with a contract thats already guaranteed to make him a very very rich man, a win in round 14 on a freezing friday night still means absolutely everything to the great man. Its that will to win and love for the game that separates him from superstar to all time great. Just work on the kicking for next week big fella.

-Reid was pretty good, again just needs to kick straight.

- Not sure what to make of those video ref goals. I wouldnt have wanted to be the reviewer tonight because they were ****ing close. On balance you'd think that 1 of them would go our way, but in the end it just made the win better.

- Has Mcguire had some work done? thought there were a few less chins than normal, maybe it was just because i had a few Peroni's in the system.

- Towers let me down tonight. I backed his inclusion and he was pretty woeful

- Grundy & Smith are quietly putting together a great block of footy (I called them cooked after the WCE game, again WTF do i know)

Go Bloods, i love this team (sorry for the long post)

We have uncovered someone truly amazing in Newman. Lock him up to a 10 year contract! Honestly he has come from nowhere and just marks his place.

Also our rookie listed backline is amazing. Grundy, Rampe, Melican, Lloyd, Newman all rookies!!!

Really, that's a remarkable stat.

Kind of makes Callum Mills, 'Hans Solo' amongst 5 wookies

Everyone was slipping over in the reserves as well.
