Very nice, where did you go to?I didnt actually go with the team, I was in the states on my own holiday, just happened to coincide.
I'm going to hate you and your exclusive in jokesIt's an in joke so apologies Tigerland55, but I did notice some "beniftits" in America.
Haere Ra

Hey Stig,
Not sure if you can help or not, but I wouldn't know where to start so fingers crossed.
I am not sure if you travelled to cairns or not with the team to play GC but a good mate of mine drove from the coast in his "TIGER CAR" and had the luck of talking to Dimma at the training session before hand and Dimma loved his car so much he got all the players to sign the bonnet which my friend then had covered in a clear coat to preserve it. He got photos with, and of all the players signing the car and was over the moon. He even made a face book page TIGER CAR and updated all of his travels and experience meeting Dimma and the team, it was pretty great.
Sadly though, some lunatic, who has just been charged, took to the car late one night with an axe, it wasnt the only car, so he wasnt a hater or a pies supporter just a lunatic with nno respect.
Now whilst the car is covered by insurance, the signatures etc are ruined and as you can imagine, he is pretty gutted by it.
I would love to be able to organise something for him if possible, he has no idea I am even asking so no hard done if you cant but any suggestions would be very welcome and any assistance greatlu appreciated.
Peejay, imagine Charlie Sheen and Ben Cousins throwing a party........Nice tax deduction tie in
Any idea what Ben Cousins is doing over Xmas?
Hey mate,
See what we can think of early in the new year though. I just asked Dimma about it as he walked passed and he definitely remembered the car, said it was horrible news.
Lets touch base in the new year see if we can do anything.
hey stig/fellow posters can you tell me what the clubs footy dept spend for last year was. i know it says about 3.5m in the annual report but that is not the real figure.
thanks mate.
The annual report is a legal document, so that is the "real" figure. If not, Benny will be singing Jailhouse Rock shortly.
What you are probably referring to is the fact that the footy spend between the various clubs is differing wildly. This is because some are including some costs in this, others are including them in other definitions.
What the "real figure" is therefore depends upon what costs you think are footy dept costs.
yes you know what i mean. thanks captain obvious!
seriously though, its not that clear cut now.
do you include player wages
coaches
costs for buildings and oval maintenance (even though these also support non-footy operations)
travel
marketing activities (which the players now get paid for)
and so on
some clubs are being very minimal about this, and anything borderline is being pushed into other areas. on the other hand, some clubs are shoving any cost remotely connected to footy into "footy ops"
Its similar to the membership question. How many we have depends upon what you consider a member, and if you get 3 people in a room, all three will have a different definition.
Back to RFC footy ops, the definition they are happy with is obviously they one they list in the annual report.
On this, is it possible for members to opt in to receiving all correspondence electronically? Most big corporates do it these days and I know it saves a fortune.
The only thing that I like to actually have in my grubby hands is The Fighting Tiger. I'm not sure if you do this already, but surely 1 copy per household is sufficient?
Being a bit of a greenie, I really liked your initiative of asking members to opt in for merchandise. I'm sure it saved a stack of money also. I'm sure if members had the choice between the club spending less money and them donating more money, they would choose for you guys to spend less....
Lastly, with the Elite Patron any thought on adding Grand Final ticket guarantee to sweeten the deal? I'm signed up for next season regardless but come 2013-14, thoughts may be drifting to late Sep/Oct...... ?
yeah 74 i guess its all of it. if its related to footy dept then include it ie player/coaches wages, medical,it etc.field maintenance, flights i would not include. the afl must be able to compare clubs as how would they form a basis to provide funds to bring a level playing field. so lets include what the afl does. the only reason why i ask is bg did relate the ftf on the lack of footy spend we had comparing to the pies and i would like to see how that has changes 1 year on.
The afl publish a figure for each club during the year, not sure if one was released for 2011, or what they include/exclude.
If you want to see growth in footy dept spend, best you can do otherwise is see what the concise financial report says. We are up a few hundred k in footy, and a mill in general wages. Even if we assumed (incorrectly) all these wages were for footy, we are still way behind the Pies footy spend of $22m (off memory, stand to be corrected).
Hey Stig,
Going through the Tigerland Store book I got sent with my membership, it had a Game Ball, and replica game ball.
Apart from price, what is the actual difference?
