Haven’t heard anything to say otherwise. I don’t think they should have a second team but can’t see AFLQ getting rid of that team after just one season. So Coops keep their 2nd team?!
Don’t shoot the messenger but Memos sent out to clubs a week or so ago and it confirmed last night on AFLQ Friday night forum that 2nd Friday night teams can be obtained by:
(a) one team clubs if they are approved to progress to Division 2 (Saturday) in 2026 (those had to have already applied apparently); or
(b) Saturday 2 team clubs (I.e. QAFL, Div 1 or Div 2 clubs that have both seniors & ressies on Saturdays, such as Coorparoo) can apply annually in the dates of 15-31 Jan provided they can show they have a sufficient surplus of their own players and doesn’t impact the local area (whatever that means).
I think there are potentially 5 in that category - Chooks, Eagles, Pac Pines, Southport and maybe Greater Springfield.so the Chooks are in category a, considering they are advertising for a second team coach?
I wonder how Coops could sell that one, given the neighbours shut down their thirds team last year
We’re in. Pumped for the sunny coast comp. Going to be some great rivalries. 95% of our regos are all ex juniors which is why we put the submission in.

Never played glasshouse but a decade ago played both Moreton and hinterland in the qfa Div 1 north compYes, a few hostilities revisited
When was the last time Maroochydore played Moreton Bay, Glasshouse, Hinterland in senior footy?
Not sure but they’ve never played Kawana. Kawana have never played Caloundra or Glasshouse. Many rivalries at junior level now into the seniorsYes, a few hostilities revisited

It is integral in ensuring they are able to field a QAFL team.Haven’t heard anything to say otherwise. I don’t think they should have a second team but can’t see AFLQ getting rid of that team after just one season.
The merged maroochy side only played in the pineapple cup comp which only had Noosa in it.Did the merged team play in the previous sunny coast comp?
Think kawana had a senior team in the now long time extinguished Sunshine Coast comp. In the 80s I’m told. Played out of the ground where the current Sunshine Coast stadium is.Not sure but they’ve never played Kawana. Kawana have never played Caloundra or Glasshouse. I’m not sure why “Mr/Mrs AFLQ, we have 60-70 players that we haven’t stolen from other clubs. Can we please have a 2nd team?” isn’t a good enough reason. It is integral in ensuring they are able to field a QAFL team.
Don’t ask anyone how but that’s why
Nope our club has never had one. They may have been a totally seperate entity. KPE formally CPE has only ever been a junior clubThink kawana had a senior team in the now long time extinguished Sunshine Coast comp. In the 80s I’m told. Stand corrected and it was only short lived.
Yeah not in the entity of kawana park eagles but pretty sure there was a kawana AfC at some stage. They may have also played on that stretch of grass behind ettamogah pub as well.Nope our club has never had one. They may have been a totally seperate entity. Kawana Koalas?Yeah not in the entity of kawana park eagles but pretty sure there was a kawana AfC at some stage. They may have also played on that stretch of grass behind ettamogah pub as well.
You’re right they played in 83-84 then 91-92 in the Sunshine Coast comp. They were known as the Eagles as well. But as I said no affiliation with the current Kawana Park or the previous Chancellor Park which formed in 2001Yeah not in the entity of kawana park eagles but pretty sure there was a kawana AfC at some stage. You said majority are your juniors. What’s the average age like? Plenty of youth and pace? You’re right they played in 83-84 then 91-92 in the Sunshine Coast comp. Bit of a mix, got a batch of mates that played together all around that 23-25 year old mark. A group of 18-20 year old that’s played in our 17s past few years. We are probably a bit light on experience as in not many of the 27-33 year old age bracket, but that’s ok. We’ll be youngish and fairly quick across the ground. Not sure how competitive we’ll be year 1 as it’s building the foundations. I can see us growing and developing really quickly over next few years as the program gathers momentum. You said majority are your juniors. What’s the average age like? Plenty of youth and pace?
Yes I was pretty sure there was a kawana afc of some sort early days. Remember the older guys telling me about how they played at the oval which is now the stadium in Kawana and also behind ettamogah pub (might have been 2nd stint)You’re right they played in 83-84 then 91-92 in the Sunshine Coast comp. Yeah definitely played against Kawana in 1992. Ross McIvor(brother of ex Fitzroy player Scott) was captain coach from memory.
