How does a club go from forfeiting some Reserves games (less than 40 available players) to having 3 sides (70+ players). That’s a big intake with minimal departures in 1 off season
Their group of Players born 2003-2005 is quite large and those players are all graduating out of under 19s into the senior group. Unsure to whether they will still have 2 U19 teams.

Spot on. Focus on your school feed of players and you build back up your numbers. The senior players that stuck with the club, while many left for cash after 2022, have been key though.

I don't believe there is a 2nd U19 team, largely driven by the VAFA changing the age limit again. A lot of kids are now only eligible for 1 year of U19's post school.

The Thirds will be the overflow U19's and Reserves players.

I think we are more likely to see forfeits in A Grade Reserves than B Grade.

Ridiculous to forfeit Premier A reserves. As has been suggested by others, use your 19s and thirds team to top up.

Are you really a Premier A club if you can't field a magoos side?

Old Haileybury don't have a Thirds and according to VAFA rules U19's Premier ranks higher than A Grade Reserves

Hopefully they have also picked up some numbers, but if they haven't then forfeit will be on the cards again

Either way it's not a B Grade problem

Assuming those VAFA rules are as you say, it’s a nonsense to permit A grade ressies forfeits as a result.
The offending club (or prospective offender) should not have U19’s in Premier, hence cannot ‘lurk’ behind this quirk to denigrate A Grade Reserves….

The Hoes welcome De La to the Pine Lodge for their last game having to use the palatial facilities.

Whilst the 2000’s saw a great rivalry, the Dairy lickers ventured higher whilst we were all at Sea (C).

Funnily enough the Hoes record at the Diary Bell outweighed its performance at home (as usual).

It will be a good test to see where we are after getter two lessons in home and away football in 2024.

We will be missing a few, but its still a couple of weeks away from the big show starts. So keeping a few on ice.

Triple header or just the 1's and 2's battling it out?

Triple header.

I’m tipping the main game will be a belter.

DeLa will be too strong in the Unders and 2’s.

Ground loved the rain from yesterday. Taken some of the sting out of the ground.
I reckon it will be a belter Max, given OI's off-season recruiting spree.
Have it on good authority that P Naish will get a guernsey with a number in the 50s, while Mirkov is going to get a guernsey with a number in the 80s. Some other recruits getting decent numbers too.

Seeing I allocate numbers, you aren’t far from the truth.😂😜

OI seniors win by 90 points
The benefit of already having a practice match.

Near full squad. Happy no injuries, just general soreness.

Perfect day for football. Thursday’s rain certainly softened the ground.

Well umpired.

Next week against Wadonga.

Not patting oneself on the back are we, Maxie?:)

Definitely not. Dela can’t train/play in their own ground and their practice match from last week was called off due to heat.

They were rusty, and after what they did to us twice last year. I would never write them off.

If TAB Sportsbet did a market on the Premier B season, who'd be the favourite a) for the premiership; b) making the final 4 and C) getting relegated to Premier C for 2026?

In practice match news I believe Caulfield took on Noble Park last weekend and lost Seniors & U19's games, but were both very close. I am also lead to believe the Reserves won easily (so I'm feeling much better about depth this season).

Based on OI's thumping of De La I might need to adjust their Premiership odds to $2 ;)

Noble will be lucky not to get relegated for the first time , so hard to get a gauge

From the weekend results.

Fitz beat Collegians.
Caulfield just lost to Noble Park
Willy beat a country side by 7 goals after being almost equal at 3rd time. Young forward kicked 8.
Carey beat NFNL Div 2 side Whittlesea by 10-12 goals.
