Good to hear. Getting some variety in the centre square throughout a game instead of relying on the same 3 mids will only make us better.
Yes Indeed. Mike65 has been hot on Hall all preseason. Was on the far side of the ground during match sim and saw the inside work Hall was doing. An absolute solid citizen who will play the Lyon gameplan to a tee. Then we have the likes of Carroll, Garcia, Jones etc. Good solid citizens who can absolutely play seniors. However we can't underestimate the loss of Pou.

Sitting here today, eating my fast food , in the cold light of day, (its 5 degrees outside in Japan, and about 15 in MOS Burger) i have a crisper focus than most of you lazy Aussies, basking in the summer glory on your back porch, tinny in one hand, God knows what in the other, the perfect ambience somewhat tempered by the sound of a noisy truck, a lawnmower and the prospect that injury has ruined the season’s launch again.

It seems we have one massive one, and one major. (Massive is one or two steps up from major)
Marshall & Doogs

Phillipou has always been a prospect in waiting. His presence, and I mean this respectfully, has been, on balance, after countless games gifted across two seasons, pretty much a deficit in terms of winning four points on the day. That all changed, late last season, and quite late. NO doubt, his efforts in a few late games was terrific. I know everyone said, this would be THE year. Perhaps, in some way, in the long run, this might be better. He’ll make his way back mid to late season, without high expectations, and take it from there. He is still ridiculously young.

Liam Henry has been flashy in patches between injury, and that is it.

Our backup backmen are unproven or hopeful. That is about it. Cordy, Hammer..the young lads?

We are in a spot here with Doogs.

So all eyes turn to our latest recruit.

Mt Boyd.

On the good side.

Sincs will go charging into the season in full swing, unlike last year.

Banger famously jumped off a chair to fix his plantar fasciitis.

Perhaps we can get Pou to jump off a chair too.

Back with another training highlights video.

great stuff here.

A couple of notable efforts:

  • Tootsie is looking confident at the level and moves through traffic well.
  • Dodson already has Heaths measure, and could well surprise for some senior games this year

He's a St Kilda player when he gets out on the park and plays his first game for the RWB... before that he's just a person contracted by St Kilda FC.
You've certainly brought some optimism to pre season discussions. Where were you before Xmas? Have you been lurking waiting for the wheels to fall off?

You asked for it....

I asked , what about his left, and it assumed the right being already done..my bad

Chat:

In cases of a stress fracture in one femur (in this instance, Mattaes Phillipou's right femur), the left femur is typically unaffected unless there are underlying systemic or biomechanical issues. However, it’s important to consider a few factors to ensure his left leg remains healthy during recovery and beyond:

Potential Risks to the Left Femur

  1. Overcompensation:
    • While recovering, Phillipou may unconsciously put extra weight or stress on his left leg to compensate for the injured right femur. This could increase the risk of overuse injuries, including stress fractures in the left femur or other parts of the leg (e.g., the tibia or foot).
  2. Biomechanical Imbalances:
    • If there is an underlying biomechanical issue (e.g., leg-length discrepancy, gait abnormality, or muscle imbalance), it could predispose the left femur to similar stress.
  3. Training Adjustments:
    • During rehabilitation, he might focus on single-leg exercises or other activities that strain the left leg more than usual, potentially creating additional risks.

Preventative Measures for the Left Femur

  1. Balanced Rehabilitation:
    • Ensure the rehab program addresses both legs equally to avoid overloading the healthy side.
    • Gradual reintroduction of weight-bearing and running drills on both legs will help balance stress.
  2. Gait and Biomechanical Assessments:
    • Regular assessments during recovery can identify and correct any compensatory patterns or imbalances.
  3. Strength and Conditioning:
    • Exercises that strengthen both legs, with a focus on symmetry, will help protect the left femur from excessive stress.
  4. Load Management:
    • Limit high-impact activities on the left leg during early stages of rehab and monitor training loads carefully when returning to play.

Prognosis for the Left Femur

If managed properly, Phillipou’s left femur should remain unaffected, and he can return to full strength and mobility without additional issues. Addressing any potential imbalances and avoiding overcompensation will be key to ensuring a smooth and complete recovery.
There’s way too much Dr Google or Dr Chat going on here. Way too much…

Wow... negative town in here!

I get it, Im disappointed with the Pou injury, but it just gives another youngster a chance. Im most disappointed for the break in Pou's progress (which seemed to be aggressive this year) but he is just one player, we need 30 odd players minimum on this journey. Im looking forward to this giving both Garcia and Windy a shot. Neither should miss now, Windy gets a chance to pull a promising career out of a mediocure two year spell, and Garcia gets the chance to say 'I belong here, now, and not on the bench waiting for the 4th quarter'

Combine this with Boyd in the ruck and the Hammer down back, this is going to be fun!
True CS. Next man up philosophy. We can walk around thinking how bad we’ve got it or we can think what opportunities lays ahead. Adversity breeds heroes
