I thought Gaertner was Wool.

Forever immortalised by his big roost which gave St Kilda an unforgettable win against Brisbane in 2004, Troy Schwarze's overflowing 'do similarly holds a special place in St Kilda history.

Starting off his career with a typical buzz cut, 'the
Wool' soon brought out the 'coastal-chic shag' which adorned his bonce for his remaining years at the Saints.

Spida says...: There has to be a special mention to have a head like a stainless steel scourer, but at the same time remind us all of Screech from Saved by the Bell. We can’t leave out the Wool!

I wasn't paying heaps of attention to training this morning because I was there with the kids, and I'm not an experienced training watcher, but it looked pretty mediocre to me. Mostly the guys seemed to be just going through the motions for the crowd, except in the running at the end which looked a bit more real.

Just me or was it a pretend session?

Definitely a bit pretend today

My inexpert observations from training today

In all the end to end drills Arie was used as the distributor. Seems hes being groomed for Round 1 in that role. If he doesnt have a spot up target he just hoofs it 70m down the line. Still needs a lot of defensive work though, Stocker bet him cold twice in quick succession, the second one earning him a blast from Brendon Bolton

Byrnes just running laps

No sign of Roma, a lot of the ruck contests at stoppage drills were Heath v Keeler (who has filled out)

Hastie took part in everything so seems OK

Bolton very vocal and seemed to be running most sessions. RTB just observing and having 1 on 1 chats

A couple of proper umpires there and were used from time to time. Scott McLaren also there advising them.

Pou let fly with a set shot from from the 50m line that hit the post... about a foot from the top. Can kick.

As already mentioned, a very bruise free session that ran til 11.15 when they stopped and did signings etc.

I’ve been to a couple of open sessions during the season and they seem to be very light so I don’t bother with them. They are a good opportunity for kids to go and get up close to players.

As a long suffering Saints fan and a passionate Taswegian I need to let you know that

I HAVE TICKETS TO THE BIG BASH FINAL!!!!!!!!
go cane train

If the hurricanes can do it them maybe this is the year of the saints. I could then die happy!

Thanks for tolerating my diversion.

Maybe it will be against the stars??????

Windhager, how has his PS been, role?

Reason I ask... SC Keeper league.

Had a great 1st half of 2024, then found himself tagging a little more and playing back half? I really rate him fwiw.
I had Windy in fantasy and I'm not expecting him to improve his output by much if at all

Has been in full training for a few weeks now but had a hammy injury early on in PS. Midfield role uncertain with Macrae and Pou set to get cbas. Clark underdone might be good for his midfield chances but he should be ok for round 1

I think Windy will play mid/wing rotation - maybe 30/70? He's a versatile player so its hard to predict his role but I feel highly unlikely to play predominantly mid

There were alot of players not out there today. Drills were pretty focused on I50 stoppages. Prob wasn't the best session for an open training.

Windy seemed involved in everything today

Selwood is visiting every club this pre-season as part of his role with the AFL

Come to Geelong… the “lifestyle” is unbeatable… 💰💰💰”…

If we can get to round 1 with just those 2 not available for selection, I will fair dinkum attempt a cartwheel .

With a near full squad available we should get some early wins on the board , get ourselves into the top 4 by gather round.

Have to admit I'm nervous we don't have cover for Battle this year and if Wilkie goes down we are in a world of pain. I know a few have mentioned Boyd as a tall defender - but when was the last time he played that role ? Hasn't he been a ruckman in his seasons at Norwood ?

Boyd a defender…please!!

Windhager had a slow start to preseason after his hamstring injury.
He’s starting to look good at training & was prominent in today’s match sim!
Best position I think is a run with role.

That's manageable. The most important player -by far- in that list is Henry. And he's tracking nicely from reports. Collard seems close, Dow to be completely honest I've already written off, I think he'll be delisted end of next season, I don't think he has any outstanding point-of-difference to carve out a career beyond that and if he does our young guys are stagnating, Clark wtf he's done a stomach muscle now but doesn't sound too bad, but very typical, Taura known quantity, Said fairly irrelevant and Hastie well let's hope he's back on track soon, but not a lynch pin.

If we can just keep this bill of health and IMO most importantly, if Henry can keep those guitar strings in tact, because he's got a fair ****en bit of the talisman about him, we're in a really strong spot injury-wise!

Fingers crossed.
Said is anything but irrelevant…do you get to training at all!!
