Our forward line is that ridiculous im not even worried if Lynch misses the first few. Bolton, Jack, Cumbo, Martin. Name me a better forward line.
Gotta have a proven big bloke there to bring the ball to ground, otherwise interceptors will just mop up and the smalls will never get their hands on it. Jack can't really play this role any more because he can't jump, and Miller is unproven as a forward.

Lynch is by far our most important player now imo.

Hopefully it pisses down round 1

If we get to that preseason camp and I see photos of Lynch pushing a hay bale up a hill and riding a bike again just like in 2022. Is this a thing we do every year now? Lynch's preseason injury, wont play R1

I am far more confident in our midfield to hit targets now. You have Dusty, Bolton, Jack and Cumbo to line-up on, who's gonna have the balls to peel off one of them to intercept? I reckon we'll be okay.

McGovern is dumb enough, then injure himself trying to get back to his man, miss the next 10 weeks

McGovern will do anything he can to get injured the fat campaigners got it all worked out. Get paid 6 figures to sit at home wanking all day.

I dont know exactly what is wrong with Lynch, but our medical and strength and conditioning teams have had months to get him right for the season.
I'd be concerned if they can't get him right for round one.
During our premiership winning period our medical staff were very good at making sure the players would be 100% right to go before they came back in. Often resting them for an extra week to be sure.

Last year there were some concerning signs of players getting rushed back in.
I really hope we have a handle on this, because if anything can mess up our season, it's injuries.

Lynch has plantar fasciitis. I have full confidence that our medical team is taking a very conservative path. He might be a bit underdone come round 1, but I reckon he'll play.

Apparently are trying Docherty as a mid...

He was the least accountable defender, he will get torched playing as a mid.

Blokes like him and kade Simpson, Carlton have held them up on a pedestal when all they have been doing is driving poor behaviours for everyone coming behind them..

I'd like to see 'Doc' try and keep up with TT in round 1

Oh, Dusty is fit and firing. Lynch is recovering from plantar well. I'm at work pretending to do stuff whilst planning various holidays.

Life is looking up

Docherty was excellent in the midfield late last year. He's no Cotchin, but he doesn't need to be with Cripps, Kennedy and Hewett around him.

Can't wait for him to line up on Bolton only to see Bolton stream out the middle, show him the ball then slot it from 50.

Whoa, Cripps maybe, but Kennedy and Hewett? They are just ok players still, I wouldn't be scared of them.

Cripps
Walsh (missing)
Cerra
Kennedy
Hewett
Acres
Fisher?

vs.

Prestia
Taranto
Hopper
Dusty
Cotchin
Bolton
Graham
Short
McIntosh
Pickett

I think overall we'll have the better midfield, but all of theirs bar Fisher are full time mids, whereas Dusty/Cotchin/Bolton will spend more time forward it seems. But yeah I think we have them covered with Walsh not playing.

Carlton's two big forwards are pretty scary though...

Scary 😂😂😂😂😂 hardly got a kick between them last season when we played them, aside from a short purple patch in the second clash where McKay kicked a couple out of his rear end. They don't worry me in the slightest

those campaigners just play for soft frees (and they get em 90% of the time)

In round 1 when we (as we all bloody predicted) got reamed HARD by the soft-as-butter 50m interpretations (of course they used us to make an example of), they got given two in a row at one stage.

When the second of the two was paid (I think Graham's "fault" ?) I saw Cripps celebrate the call with a big yell and fist pump, given it was basically guaranteeing a goal.

That's the Carlton mindset.

Docs stats might have been good, but output compared to his opponent was really poor...

If you think of the +/- stat in basketball, he would've been in the -'s every week

Kennedy and Hewett had very good seasons last year until injury struck when they were badly missed and the reason they ended up missing finals ( :D ). They're not stars but consistent, big bodies that crack in. Docherty is class on the outside, the better those guys (and Cripps) go, the better he will. Similar to Short for us if he plays mid. Kennedy was probably BOG round 1 last year.

You could say they're a poor mans Taranto and Hopper....
