Further reading on PRE, sounds like Pickett was there but not training with the main group. He may have been held back to play some game time tomorrow in the VFL. Could be the same with Ross, who Ceaser noted did a reasonable amount of running and he speculated may have been held back to play VFL.

Regardless the injury report said they are both aiming to do the main session next Tuesday, so them not fully training today isn't a set-back at this stage.

Hey guys id have

Grimes - Tarrant - Vlastuin
Baker - Balta - Rioli (Broad)

Mcintosh - Taranto - Pickett (Graham)
Nank - Hopper - Prestia (Short)

Dusty - Riewoldt - Cotchin (M.Rioli)
Bolton - T.Lynch - Cumberland

As best 22 if everyones fit, would that be right? Hard to know who the chop out ruck is. Can Balta or Pickett do it for very small time? I assume a chop out ruck isnt necessarily locked best 22 (Soldo/Ryan/Miller)

Tarrant out scenarios (In this case everyone else fit) i see as:

1)J.Short to half back (play smaller and bring in a chop out ruck (Soldo/Ryan/Miller)

2) J.Short to half back bring in Sonsie/Ross/Dow (small type)

3) Miller replaces Tarrant

What would be more likely in your eyes

At least one of Soldo, Miller or Ryan will play as 2nd ruck and one of Tylar Young and Miller will come in for Tarrant IMO. Personally, I'd bring in Miller for Tarrant and Samson Ryan as 2nd ruck/KPF. Short won't be available for selection and one of Graham and Clarke will play with the other sub I reckon.

So who out of the 22 does the 2nd ruck replace?

Im not talking round 1. Talking best 22. In an absolute best case world where everyone is fit. Graham, M.Rioli, Cumberland would seem closest to the fringe. Who misses from these? ie round 2 say and Short is ready

So Graham and Sonsie miss out then? One as sub

Training report from the emperor at PRE
Young and Miller trained as backs on Lynch and Reiwoldt
Graham looked good
Sonz trained fully
no cumbo
No Pickett

Gross.

Miller is a 2nd ruck/fwd.

Bad development to have a guy play his best football finally then shift his position around again. It also likely means we see Soldo lumbering around the field offering nothing besides hitouts in the ruck.

OK - here is an observation from someone who knows nothing at all (me)

Flicking through the photo's of training today posted on the RFC website, we look much leaner than in the past - could it be we have trained for more harder running for longer with a revised game plan?
To get the ball into our forward line as quickly as possible to exploit the dangerous set-up we will have down there?

I hope so.
Might also explain the higher than normal number of injury niggles if we have loaded very hard.
But as I say, call me Sergeant Schultz...

There's 23 with the sub now. I'm not sure Cumberland is a lock yet and Graham might find himself a sub quite a bit.

Yeh so im asking who doesnt start ie sub

Cumberland or Graham then is it. Harsh on cumberland always hits the board

And id be interesting in the 3rd winger without Graham. Pickett and KMAC locks but they cant play 100% TOG there. Usually a 3rd is required from what i can see could only be Short

Leading to Cotch/Bolton/Dusty as more the 4th onballer. Id still love to see a bit of Dusty in there weve see what Boak, Selwood, Danger, Cunners, Mundy have done post 30 as mids

Graham sub (filly fit list) for me would mean

Prestia 80%
Hopper 75%
Taranto 70%
Dusty/Cotch/Bolton/Short split 75%

Pickett 75% wing
KMac 75% wing
Short 50% wing

We all want Ryan to play and Soldo to be left out

If that happens then we’ve learnt nothing from last year. Surely it won’t

The one issue I am having with our side is the forward line and how it relates to our system. Love or hate Castagna, with him no longer in the side we do not seem to have forwards who apply pressure in our forward line. Now I am not talking about just tackle pressure. I am talking the MRJ stuff, the chasing, the blocking of space which in turn disrupts the clean ball out of our forward line. It's a selfless role and what has worked for us is we need two of those players, not just one.

Now If we have a forward line of Lynch, Reiwoldt and Cumberland which i think has to be a lock, as all three are different type of forwards to each other and create mismatches that can be exploited. So with the last three of Shai, Martin and MRJ I would personally make Bolton a mid first forward second and offer the chase, pressure role to a kid with pace that we believe has a future with us, like a clarke.

I dont have a starting spot for chimp. He only comes on either in the center to give a mid a spell or forward when we are giving our small or medium forwards a rest.

Got a feeling Mansell could be a bolter for a small pressure defensive forward role.

He's got the pace and the aggro and his free kicks against wont be as damaging in the forward 50.

dimmer gonna play mansell as a hitman in rd1 coz he knows we're underdone and will have him take out 4 or 5 carlspoon players

My early call is that Seth Campbell will be in the side playing that pressure forward role by the end of the year. Has a good mix of speed and endurance.
