I played a cricket match and opened the batting 5 days after having appendix taken out

Toughen up bakes
I remember you made a duck.

I remember I had a 76 off the stick at Yarra Bend then, after lunch I was lucid enough to meet my (turned out to be) second wife at the Geebung Polo Club (sounds pretty ****ing snotty these days and too like Geelong) and nail her down 2 days after having a vasectomy. Appendicitis is nothing. Bakes will play.

Actually, am I in the right thread ?

I had mine taken out after work one day and didn’t return for two years 😂

campaigners found a tumour in my back that turned out to be cancer

sneaky campaigners probably put the tumour in there themselves while they were doing the other surgery

like when the mechanic always finds something extra to tack on $400

I don’t think we’re getting a 75% Dustin Martin…

I think the king is coming back for his crown 👑

My 1st crack a training report so here are some takeways from today. it was a drills based session as opposed to a full on match sim, which as above was good to see what we are working on specifically & is IMO better than having a match where "probables" smash the "possibles" by 10+ goals.
Rehab - Colina, Broad (who looked like a midget while doing laps alongside Colina) Laps for all consisted of jogging & sprinting between cones from what i could tell. Bauer was in a moon boot as is Smith, Gibcus & George were the only 2 who didn't do any running at all as well as the guys in moon boots (Smith & Bauer). Lynch & Sonz did the warmup with the main group but were on light duties thereafter with Graham & Soldo, they were doing sprints etc so looks more a management thing than anything else. I got the scoop from Sonz himself, he's got a hip flexor strain but said he's not too far away & looked to be moving well. Campbell also in rehab but was doing a lot of running so it can't be a major issue keeping him out. Lynch/Graham/Sonsie, for 1 drill were doing 50m kicks to top of the sqr for the the tall fwds Jack/Mill/Bradt to fist ball to the ground for the crumbers to do their thing.
Grimes & Prestia did around half the session with the main group then did laps thereafter so i'd say they are both easing back in & i got no idea if they'd play next week or not but being conservative i'd guess the Dees game would be the go for those 2.
Dusty - deserves his own section, a few sublime kicks, he'll prove a few haters wrong this yr just based on how he went today. with F50 entries he was often used as the player that kicks inside 50 & we all know what a weapon he can be in that role. Gave Tarrant a "don't argue", on another occasion he did a spin turn out of traffic inside 50 & gave off for a team mate for a goal. During a D50 to F50 drill which went for a goal as it went through Dusty had his own ball & kicked that through.
Stoppages - as mentioned above a heavy focus on around the ground stoppages for D50 & F50 into re-entry scenarios, at one stage here D.Rioli took an uncontested intercept mark about 70-80 from goal with Banks nearest to him, Dimma yelled "free kick to Banks for too high". Not sure if Dimma is angling for a gig an as ump post Coaching but he's just as good at pulling free kicks from you know where as the umps are themselves. he did pay a free to a Richmond player tho so they won't look at him but it was also against a Richmond player for nothing so who knows.
K.Bradtke - took a brilliant contested mark 1v1. Bodywork was sublime so i can see why he's been picked up, he has a lot to work with.
Also a shoutout to Biggie who took a few intercept marks & spoils, incl a contest where dusty had his man covered in a 1v1 & Biggie came in 3rd man up & smashed the ball over the line.
That's main takeaways, not doing full on match sim does make sense given it's a 6 day break till the Norf game.

To add to this Van Rooyens production at under 19 level (albeit under 19 wafl level) was very impressive. Comparisons to Noah Balta are not too far off the mark. JVR was explosive at junior level and quite successful with back to back flags with Claremont. He’s exploded onto the VFL kicking 36.13 in 18 games and winning another premiership. At 19 this kid you can speak to anyone involved at VFL and they’ll tell it’s pretty clear this kid is going to be pretty special.
Heard the same with Jaacksh, Thorpe, McBean, Shache, Sellar, John Butcher et al.

Deserves a thread of it's own.

*Shai Bolton
*Marion Pickett x 3?
*Ben Miller

*Yet to play 100 games

I agree.

At pick 15 in the draft you do go for talent over need yeah, but Im of the opinion that in term of key position talent you need to see a bit further then just pure production at under 18 level.

I will say about Tom Brown though is his last 7 games of the VFL season we’re actually very good. His last game against Collingwood had 27 touches showed that the kid has a pretty nice combination of speed, skill and footy smarts. I’d like to see him start the VFL season off in this fashion for at least 9-10 games before I can start to feel very confident that he’ll could be difference maker at AFL level.
JVR is a poor man’s Jay Schulz……be lucky to get to 50 games
