Training Pre-Season 2025 - The boys are back in town.

I think 'casual' is the best word I can think of to describe what they mean.
Watching training in recent years Cox works really hard. In my opinion he was set for his best ever year last season before double injury. One in the preseason and one in the season regular. He was getting a ton of positive comments the preseason before and he was running really well at the start of the last preseason.

Last year when he returned he reminded me of Pearce's play in the first half of the year before. Doing his best but underdone. Its a big preseason for him and Darcy but I think Cox if he gets a good run with injury will be back to his best in 2025.

Yes, he was tracking really well until that leg fracture in pre-season. I think there are a few lads with a point to prove this off-season.

Cox was terrible in that GWS game - gave too much freedom for Jesse Hogan. There were also time where he was blocked off the ball and the switches didn’t work out.

Other than that game I thought he looked a little underdone but did ok. Obviously copped some brutal public feedback and prob some solid truths inside the club walls and came out and played quite well in the final round vs Port. Difficult to Judge him off next to no pre-season and then a massive chunk of the year in rehab and playing catch-up.

Any news on Cooper Simpson would be greatly appreciated. Id love to know how he ran in the the repeat 1km's. Potentially he could be a contributor next year even as a suib.
Also any news on Narkle from Monday.

No idea about the running, but he slotted a nice goal during one of the movement drills.

I didn't see Narkle on Monday, but it was The West I think said he was on the bike with Young.

Forget Cox. I'm still filthy on Tommy Sheridan for that dropped mark in the 2015 final against Hawthorn. Rioli goals and it's game over, season over and that was the end of our golden run.

Pathetic effort and he should never play for us again.
I'm firing up the "WE MUST TRADE TOM SHERIDAN" thread now.

From what I can tell he was switching onto Daniels in that game as well. Talk about latitude giving...

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I had only just ****ing calmed down and now you have me there again.

You terrible, terrible campaigners. Softest fiddy in the history of the sport and that abominable s**tstain of a maggot gives it to Buddy ****ing Franklin in a ****ing low scoring grand final.

I was at the GF but later when I watched the replay, Leigh Matthews, I think it was remarked that umpires simply cannot pay 50 metre penalties Like that in a grand final.

Pearce and Cox are a weird Batman and Robin combo because they seem to take it in turns being Batman

There are plenty of squibby outside types who have been useful AFL players but Tommy deadset looked like he was tagging the boundary ump most of the time

i can relate.
could kick, mark, run, read the play, but
so soft I made gaff look like Troy Cook.
did get tougher as i got older, but 2 late 2 footy

You're right. If Brayshaw was a month younger, we'd have 5.

Cut off is start of the season not 1st January/now/whatever else. Brayshaw would be nearly six months ineligible.

It’s all semi irrelevant anyway tbh. Someone like Brayshaw a could be the next Mundy and be still playing when almost everyone on that list has retired but no one can predict that - Stephen Hill once looked like he could go close to being our games record holder tbh.

My three favourite from next year are
Freddy Rodriguez
Toby Whan
Sam Swadling

I think both south freo boys are top ten picks next year
Toby Whan might not be as prolific a ball winner or as strong at this stage as as Rodriguez or Swadling but his gliding movement and the long kicking is very promising - dare I say it there is something almost David Mundy about him (doesn't have the size of Mundy though).

Sam Swadling is also criminally underrated at this stage; has arguably even better movement, decision making and highly penetrating kicking weapon but also with the possession game to boot as well. You called him silk before?

I am of course heavily biased but all three are much more exciting prospects than most of the midfielders in this year's draft. Dyson Sharp also looks awesome; it is shaping up as a good year for non Vic prospects.
