There's no way that the Barossa training breach didn't factor in to the CMO's decision.
They probably won't admit as such because it's not a nice PR narrative.
Ben Hart proved that some people in the football industry can't be trusted to do the right thing during this health crisis.

Even if the Crows were able to stay in SA we wouldn't have gotten any games.

The exemption was only going to be for Adelaide and Port being able to fly in and out without quarantine, it was never going to cover the other 16 sides.

Why is she still going on about it.

If the CMO had granted the exemption for the FIFO for the two Adelaide clubs, she wasn’t going to do the exemption for all the other AFL clubs. They would still have had to do the 14 day quarantine. Games were never going to get played here until the borders came down and Victoria at this point has seen to that, due to its no of cases whilst not large shows they haven’t got it under full controlwon’t be happening soon.

The footy industry seems to be living in a parallel universe.

Actually being located on the Gold Coast in a resort with their families is probably better than catch a plane every week for 16 weeks.

The thing that amuses me most are when journos cry when called out on stupid statements.

The other day I was listening to the AFL Exchange podcast and they had this really salty section where the hosts had a go at GWS for calling AFL.com.au out for photoshopping Jeremy Cameron into an opposition team jumper. The hosts were having a massive sook saying it was bad for them to be called out publicly, they were totally fair with the photoshop, etc.

No one in this industry ever wants to accept responsibility. It's all deflect deflect deflect, blame blame blame, plenty of doubling down. Never a "sorry I got that information wrong" or a "we're pulling that information and issuing a correction" or "sorry we shouldn't have done that".

Just today we've had media personalities suggest draft and points sanctions. Then when that wasn't the penalty, instead of saying "we might have overestimated the severity of the situation"... well they double down again and complain about the sanctions, because they can't admit fault and don't want to admit they made themselves look bad.

I've mentioned a few times here that I work in the media (thankfully a completely different area). The action of sports journalists is among the worst I've come across, it's utterly disgraceful and I'd be ashamed of myself in a professional sense if I acted like they did. They constantly perform in an unprofessional manner, then wonder why they have no reputation and get slammed on social media 24/7. Yeah... I wonder...
I love the sport journo line that Lyons always goes with “ I’m not across all the details on this issue but my opinion is......” . You are paid well to be across the detail. You actually have a responsibility to be across the details

A rumour and going around the traps is a member of the golf course rang the media to report the Crows.
It's common knowledge Humphrey B Bear never speaks but apparently his father is quite the talker.
Just a rumour!
I guessed it might be a relative of his given he’s from the Barossa.

The rumour that other clubs were training in larger groups than two? I hope the rumour was true. Has there been any confirmation do you know?

No significant confirmation, but I think its reasonably obvious it was happening.

The fact that Dittmar came out and said he knew(Or words to that effect) of 5 other clubs tells us the Crows would have had reasonable proof of 5 others. Dittmar is Roo's way of "leaking" to the "media".

The AFL's sanctions on us suggests it was one cat of worms they didn't want opened to the wider public.

And Wilson doesn’t even consider to investigate whether true. Lost all respect.

Carlton told MacLure to back off because it was bringing heat on their own breaches

The coaches only crime was to stand there and let it happen. She’s a ****ing moron. How can she seriously place the least amount of responsibility on the person most responsible.

makes a good story but there’s more people than Danny that go for the power in Tanunda.
Would need to be someone connected with an AFL player you'd think

Anyone else would just assume the AFL clubs must have had permission

Someone with a connection would be able to ask to check

This. The most infuriating thing is that she goes unchallenged, particularly unchallenged by the AFC. If the club is blocking her out like they ruined Rucci, it's not working. While The Age was still rubbish the way it reported anything Crows, it still had/has more credibility than that bun fight organisation she sells herself to now, so she and the rest of the flunky hacks at that shitshow are now given licence to be shit....and yes, there's a lot of shit going on. And yes I realise she still gets print in The Age.

It's a tough spot.

Do we freeze her out, and let's be honest her continual talk of camps etc came from people no longer near the club.

Or do we challenge her and the Crockheads at every turn and just spend most of our time fighting stupid battles, but give the appearance of sticking up for ourselves.

Tabloid journalists don't usually quit chasing rubbish.

I know. What should the club do? As soon as they start correcting the media the media wins because it gets the response they want so they can then call lies and keep any story going with 'but it's my understanding...' 'I believe....' without any verified proof. The **** ers.

Brownie points to Rob Chapman in there threatening other Vic clubs. Turns out that rumour was true.
Caro wrote in her article that Chapman put in a big speech to the AFL exec that Crows werent the only club that made the fairness mistakes and basically made the point that they might have to dish out a tonne of suspensions if they go down the route of punishing the Crows in a big way.
