Went to the tennis yesterday. Saw a couple of fellow swans supporters walking around during the day. Was about to leave and a guy walked passed wearing a Lions premiership t-shirt. I just can't escape it ☹.
Was at least 6 of us down in Lakes Entrance Vic over the new year. A lot of knowingly sympathetic nods.

Two conclusions:

1. Jed Lamb was an “AFL star”

2. Abbie Chatfield is a tad prone to hysteria.

Got 10 x stupider reading that.

Complains about being verbally ‘abused’ by a random male.. proceeds to call said male an ugly loser..

Why don't you try understanding the context a bit more. I personally like her messages of empowerment. She's simply calling him out for his keyboard cowardice.
I understand the context just fine, it isn’t exactly deep..

It’s two adults acting like pre-pubescents on social media getting offended over not much whatsoever.

When the heck will our 2025 apparel be available?

Why is it we are the only club without 2025 apparel available in their online shop?

This happens year after year.

It's an absolute embarrassment that our marketing team and Nike can't get their act together.

Here are some links to other clubs (noting that all 17 clubs are showing 2025 apparel):

And here we go, stuck still in 2024. It's just not good enough.

It's diabolical!

But possibly not as diabolical as the apparel the players have been sporting this season. Maybe they're having a re-think? I wouldn't be very interested in those ones they're wearing to training if they were giving them away.

12 months ago, I felt just as you do. Now, I am wiser.

My take is: in principle I absolutely agree it is not premature to be talking about trading and drafting. And there's apparently a big appetite for doing so, which is part of the problem. In practice, the same thoughts get recycled over and over with minor variation and the thread spawns dozens of pages a month of tiresome and repetitive and meaningless speculation (many months out from actual trade/draft season and with none of us really having much of a clue). And so there has grown a desire for some respite (even though, apart from the mods, nobody needs to go there and read it).

Please confirm if I have synthesised the situation accurately or advise and correct it if I haven't.
Maybe restrictions to a max 10 posts a day

What can 1 disagree with

1. Play the ball, not the person. E.g. "I have no respect for Moana Hope's footy commentary. She seems to have no clue what she's talking about but gives us her opinions at length anyway". [She is hardly the first ex-footy player to offer less than insightful commentary to make a quid.]

2. Don't be unnecessarily disparaging. Calling her "Mona No Hope" is just a cheap shot. [To be fair if you'd called Eddie McGuire 'Three Chins' or some such I probably wouldn't have said anything - but this is more punching down.]

3. How did Moana Hope even come into the conversation? Just seems like a gratuitous drive-by, especially since you are a notable non-fan of AFLW.

4. Moana Hope was a star of the AFLW. When she was signed by Collingwood FC ahead of the inaugural AFLW comp in 2016 she was signed as one of their two marquee players. She was also selected to play State of Origin for Victoria. (However, her career didn't pan out that well and I agree she never became the AFLW player she was touted to be.)

I'm not a notable non AFLW FAN ,i watch all our games and have coached girls footy , i just get frustrated with it and enjoy juniors coming through . thanks for your mistake , as you wouldn't know what i like .
Mona Hope was NEVER a star of the AFLW , she played lower level girls footy for St. Kilda City and kicked quite a few goals.
The drive by as you call it was the media in general over rating mediocre footballers who are NOT stars

Glad to hear you are not a non-fan of AFLW! I look forward to you posting more in our AFLW forum. Your insights could be invaluable. Who are your favourite W players and why? What do you think of our latest recruits - both by trade and draft?

I have no problem rating 18 year old boys but for some reason doing the same with 18 year old girls just feels weird and wrong.

Interesting. We are rating them on their footballing ability/promise, much like with boys. Of our approximately 8 new recruits only 2 are 18 year olds (Amelia Martin and Zippy Fish). Feel free to tell us what you think of the older ones (Moloney, Brown, van Loon, Pullar, Reid, Steel-Park) if the 18 year olds are off limits.

I do have to say Zippy Fish is either the worst name or the best name I have ever heard. I don't know which yet though.
