Port Adelaide's plan to use jumpers similar to Collingwood

Port supporters are absolutely with you on wanting to leave the SANFL behind for a proper reserves league.

It'll be an interesting argument from the AFL if Port and Adelaide joined the VFL given there are already multiple instances of teams having the same colours and mascot in the VFL.
That was a case of the big clubs joining the little clubs league so clubs like Werribee just had to accept there was another Tigers team now.

Very different when a small club like Port Adelaide try to bully a big club like Collingwood.

I agree with your first point.

I don’t see how Port are trying to bully Collingwood? Or if Collingwood are still the big club the purport toge?

Yes you are right because they were separate clubs back then. Nobody is disputing that (I don't think) - but they have been merged for over 10 years now....

But even back then they were separate clubs in legal terms but in every other way most people viewed them as effectively the same club.

They have won a premiership, but who are the nobodies exactly? They have a fantastic H&A strip and colours that the Power are not proud of? The prison bars are another club in the SANFL! That was given up the moment they entered the AFL! Now, if the nobodies wish to sell their licence to Tasmania then that's fine also, the state colours of Tassie are Bottle Green, Yellow and Red, no clash there! At the moment the Power is switched off and they don't know where the on switch is located?

No, if they want to wear the prison bars then that is who they are in whatever league. I support Port using the prison bars unless there is a clash and then the home team should have choice of jerseys - simple solution. No-one can claim exclusive rights to black-and-white-stripes legally or morally. Eddie can sue a zebra, sue Newcastle United or sue local councils for painting zebra crossings on to roads if he believes that such a thing can be "owned" by someone.

Please, now you are just being silly.
Surely you are not claiming that your minnow club is a bigger club than Collingwood?
Having a rare poor season, doesn't stop us being a big club.
You could win 2 premierships in a row and we still would have to help pay your bills.

As for Power trying to bully Collingwood, not likely.
It is more that we are sick of port continually trying to steal what isn't theirs.
Wanting someone elses design and identity is common place with this mob.
Each week Port must throw ideas around at their meeting "Who is doing something well and how can we pretend it is ours?"

Port shouldnt have any claims on anything, unitl they dump that ridiculous embrassing BS that is the INXS schmucky rubbish they go on with before each home game.
Embarassing supporters of 17 other clubs and the entire competition as a whole.

But it works for Liverpool with their song!
It is not unlike Port to pretend to be something that they are not.

No where have I, or anyone else in this thread claimed to be bigger than Collingwood. The expansion of the he league has seen WCE rise as an on and off field juggernaut, the RFC success has seen massive membership growth, the NSW population ‘supporting’ Sydney, the Adelaide Crows stranglehold on the socially aspirational SA market etc all indicate many clubs have a stake as a ‘big’ club. Indeed, there is very little ground for Collingwood to claim it is big in.

Rare poor season? All Clubs have good and poor seasons and Collingwood are no different. A poor season isn’t rare - it’s a cyclic norm for all clubs.

Im not sure Collingwood do ‘pay our bills’. The AFL expansion saved the VFL clubs. The money generated by Collingwood is facilitated by an AFL draw that maximizes the market position of Collingwood at the expense of other clubs. So this is a weird flex.

The bullying comment was a direct response to a point in a post. So we both agree we that is not happening.

The point continues to remain that the PAFC continues to express a desire to represent the PAFC in a manner consistent with the wishes of the PAFC community.

No amount of petty name calling or snide ‘zingers’ will change that.

Bahahahah...

I wonder why.

Gee, i dont know... but.... Maybe its got something to do with them reducing power game ticket prices down to about a quarter of what other teams supporters are paying!!...

Port have been a finals contender and floating up around the top 4 for a couple of years now.. and yet they still have to reduce the value of admission tickets to port games to “junk status” in a desperate attempt to get power supporters bums on seats..

No wonder the club is so far in the red.. it virtually gives away tickets to it games.

Port’s entry level 11 game GA membership is $220. If that’s “a quarter of what other teams supporters are paying!!1!” then back up your claim and show us which clubs have an entry level 11 game GA membership for $880.

Btw it’s $230 for the Saints.

I think his point is based on the tickets you're selling this weekend vs Freo for $25 (adult) $5 (kids)

Note - Last week I was doing the research as I was going to make a post on your board (there was a thread with a post about raising money to cover the debt) but decided against it as Ford Fairlaine is very touchy and really cbf dealing with his bs.

But You do have some of the cheapest memberships in the league. I know I pay ~$150 more for my seats at AO compared to whichever Port member has my seats in Port games. If Port just aligned their prices with the league average and break even on their income/expeses in everywhere else (inc. membership at 2020 prices) you'd have your debt cleared in 3-4 years. That's how low your prices are.

Crows $260.

Their highest "Legends" tickets are $790.

Bearded Clam living up to his name.

No the point is garbage. Are other clubs selling the equivalent of these $25 tickets for $100? Of course not. Being amongst the cheapest, often by not much depending on tier, in no way equates to 25% of the price.

Crows memberships look about 15% more expensive than Port's across all categories except Western Stand Essential Memberships which are the same. The Clam's claims, like pretty much everything he posts, is completely wrong.

Rule of thumb, when posters spend far more of their time posting about an opposition club, you know they are cooked.

St Kilda have 27 wooden spoons to their name (which is more than twice as many as next best North Melbourne) Your club and people involved within your organization have been caught up in countless embarrassing off field scandals. You've won a single premiership (way back before Man had even stepped foot on the moon) which you won by a solitary point.

Yet Port are an embarrassment to the AFL?

I don't even hate St Kilda, but please. You've gotta be honest. You're lucky to even be in the AFL. You haven't earned your place. If you weren't a Victorian club, you'd be sitting at the kids table with the likes of Glenelg and University.

Come off it, they thought of the bay covers all by themselves

I support Carlton and they (i.e. Port) don't embarrass me. Let them wear their traditional prison bars if they want to (unless jerseys clash in a given match). If my teenage daughter chooses to wear a red T-shirt when she leaves the house I don't scold her and say "put on a blue one".

C'mon mate. If the VFL/AFL had promotion-relegation, St Kilda would be down in the tenth division by now, or to use a concrete example, like Sunderland, down to the third-tier of English soccer.

Really, from a Carlton supporter
You do know that in the last 20 years, Carlton have only been higher on the ladder than St Kilda on 2 occasions.
