Scharenberg at 6, Sheed at 10 would be my dream draft.

I suspect we may fancy McCarthy at 10 however. If we went that direction I wouldn't lose any sleep with Hine and Rendell's hit rate with talls at high picks.

I remember Paige tweeting last week that Brisbane were into McCarthy @ 7, having several round 2 picks to get a bunch of good mids.

ASSUMING that and her above post are both on the money, that'd see:

6. Scharenberg, 7. McCarthy, 8. McDonald, 9. Freeman, 10. Bontempelli.

You have a speed fetish, Mooney and now Freeman.

Looks like it will be Scharenberg at 6 and Bontempelli at 10.

I would be happy with this... But for the sake of balance a quick midfielder such as Freeman with one of bonty/scharenberg would be my preference...

I also like billings but he will be long gone I suspect..

My secretary just asked me "is that a gun in your pocket?"

Chance of Freeman sliding to 10? I would prefer Sharenberg and Freeman over Sharenberg and Bonts.... Addresses a dire need in the midfield. Speed.
If Bontempelli was there at #9 you'd think Melbourne would look at him - He provides excellent run, without quite the explosive pace of Freeman. More like a gazelle loping down the wing than a rocket bursting through a pack.

That would be my dream scenario. From an untrained novice perspective.

Both would suit our needs perfectly and every chance to get a gig in 2014.

The question therefore is this.. Is there more of a chance for Sharenberg to fall to 10 than Freeman?? I would say yes. Brisbane would be wary of the go home factor, particularly with Polec recently shafting them. Melbourne may then be forced to take Salem and Sharenberg would still be available at 10.

Thoughts?

Surely Melbourne wouldn't be silly enough to draft a project player with their top pick? They can't even develop the sure things properly, what chance would they have of turning Bontempelli into anything useful? They may as well leave him for us :D

Umm... Which Queenslander do you envision them drafting at #7?

They lost Polec to SA, but they also lost Yeo to WA and Longer, Docherty and Karnezis to Victoria... The go home factor affects them from all states.

Unless they can get Kade Kolodjashnij, there's no one in the frame for them that wouldn't have some risk on that front, so it's not going to be a consideration. They'd take Scharenberg if he was there at #7.

I hope we nab Scharenberg with #6. Our defence could use some tightening, and then grab the paciest mid we can with #10. Which means no Bontempelli, who realistically won't slide to #10 anyway. Melbourne would have rocks in their head to overlook Freeman. However, they have spent the best part of the last decade trying to prove that they indeed have rocks in the head.

13 days to go, not sure i've ever been as pumped for for the draft as I am this year. 2 top 10 picks certainly helps.

I had a dream that hine got a text from the lions and demons and they said if you don't pick freeman, mcCarthy, and Lennon at pick 6 we wont touch who you like at pick 10 :)
