The NRL like the AFL plays matches for premiership points in states and territories it does not have full-time teams based.

For the NRL, this includes Western Australia and South Australia since the sad demise of the Perth Reds and Adelaide Rams in the late 1990s, and also some games in Darwin mostly by the Parramatta Eels to appeal to Northern Territory league fans.

However, never once to date has an NRL match for premiership points ever been played in Tasmania, not even by the Melbourne Storm looking to find additional support across the Bass Strait, or by a struggling Sydney club like Wests Tigers looking for a new market in which to play some matches against low supported or interstate teams.

I went to the first Western Reds game at the WACA in 1995, the joint was packed, Mark Geyer was the star player for them.

The crowds started to dwindle though once the novelty of having a WA NRL side started to wear off, the same for the Force.

It’s been years since a NRL match was played in Adelaide, bar one State of Origin match that struggled to sell

They had a night game a couple years of before the lights went up, I remember Balmain was one the teams because Ellery Hanley was playing for them.

I was at the final NRL game at Parramatta's Cumberland Oval vs Manly in 1981. It was a 20-20 draw. It was my first NRL match.

That was early 90’s from memory. St George brought a game to Adelaide and they put temporary lights up.

Canterbury-Bankstown brought a couple of games to Adelaide in the early 2010’s but that ended when the redevelopment took place.

Sydney then brought a couple of games here in the mid 2010’s.

A cursory Google search says they can accommodate 2.1 tonnes of bananas at any one time.
Is that a lot? A few ute-loads? Those weak English and their puny fruit processing capacity! No wonder Europe kicked them out!

In 2010 Hawthorn had on its list

Jarrod Kayler-Thomson
Jarryd Morton
Jarryd Roughead

That's the one name I have to look up every time I want to write it to make sure I'm getting it correct. I only ever saw "Jarrods" when I was a kid. Then there were some Jarrads, Jarods or Jarads, then Jarryd or Jaryd*. I just gave up on that one at some point.

*Edit and of course I forgot about Jarred/Jared.

Here's one that I thought was interesting. There's some evidence that the late 7'7 South Sudanese NBA player Manute Bol popularised the expression "My bad" due to a misunderstanding as he was learning the English language and basketball expressions. To add weight to thus theory, check out this clip, which could have been from no later than 1990, the last time Manute played for the Warriors.
